  • Optimus Betamus asks - Where should our FP be built?

Now - I expected to see a GL when I took office - but I see Cubius built and army - which is completely acceptable. But we should discuss where we will build our Forbidden Palace.

    Rusicade has been mentioned. J

    jon proposes Stolen Wines.

I prefer a city in Spain - maybe Theveste or one yet to be built. (We have lots of citizens coming out).

We could wait and build in in the heart of Celtic territory - once conquered - say Alesia.

Or maybe in Macedonia - probably east of Lost Dreams.

Or maybe somewhere not yet mentioned.

What say ye - friends, Romans. countrymen?

I think Stolen Wine is going to be hard to beat. It has a huge sheild potential. It certainly will be nice to produce units quickly right on our new front line.

And Senaors don't think that Stoeln Wines is too close to our core already? In other words - would we not be better off with the FP further away - say in Spain or Celtic lands?

Has anyone ever posted a discussion piece or analysis on the optimum location of the FP. I recall the ISDG discussion awhile back - but was wondering if anyone had put it into one post or thread - balancing the distance and corruption factors and looking at the costs and benefits involved.

We are playing C3C. The distance of the FP from our core matters little. It helps the cities very near it, and it helps the overall empire corruption, be increasing the OCN.

                  The poll seems quite clear.

                    Modo is correct.

The benefits of reducing OCN NOW via the Fp outweigh any additional benefit of an FP later, in a spot where we need distance corruption reduced.

The OCN is the overiding factor with a new FP, so build it sooner than later. The location isn't that big of a deal.

If we didn't already have so many cities, yes,
but Rusicide is at max corruption (80% it has a CH)
And so are it's immedate neighbors.

Marselllis even with a Court House is 50% corrupt. I was in virtual shock when I saw that considering we're under the Imperalism govt.

And the city immedately south of Stolen Wines is 70% corrupt again with a CH.

The difference in normal behavior is that:

                      1. This game was based on the MP version of Rise of Rome, and so corruption is higher than the SP game.

                      2. This game is also at the Demigod level.

And if Stolen Wines is turned into a culture bomb.

The other area I considered was to our NE. I rejected it based on the population of Marsellis. A FP anywhere decreases corruption in Marsellis but it will be doubly so there. Marsellis itself had immediate east neigbors whose corruption levels were acceptable.

With the number of cities we have, were best off with our second core being adjecent to the primary core.

Don't forget that the FP will increase the OCN - which at the moment we're probably double or something like that - reducing corruption in its city as well as others. I don't think Rusicade will be near max corruption once it's built, and i'm not sure that now that we hav e a MGL it's not a bad idea to try building it a little further away. Time issues are moot - it will take what, 1 or 2 turns at most to move the MGL into position regardless of where we build it? It does have 3 moves, doesn't it? And it's not a bad idea to have a couple of cities that normally wouldn't have any production at all, be productive ...

Just a thought. I concur with everyone else that it needs to be built soon - in fact I think about 30 turns ago we discussed building it, had a poll that ended up "build it somewhere now", but for some reason we never did ...

                          BUILD IT NOW!!!
