  • Maximus Meadae 275-250 BC - Events

When Maximus Meadae come to rule the Roman Empire in 275 BC he ordered (almost) all Leigions back to their nearest training facillities to provide them with the latest weapon technology and have them get acquainted using it. At a tour though all cities, the emperor informed himself on all the work that was being done on the lands. Where he saw oppurtunities to increase efficiency, his suggestions were followed. Aquaducts, courthouses, garissons, citizens, Legions were instructed to be the main focus of production.

After the successfull training had ended, a legion III unit was sent to Novidunum in 270 BC answering the request of the Senate. The emperor has his thoughts over the chances the Legion III will have getting through Celtic territory. The Celts will not be happy having Roman troops wander through their territory and will most probably make demands to have the unit return. In respect to the senates wishes to reinforce Noviodunum it would not be wise to go to war with the Celts as their first target most obvious would be unprotected Noviodunum.
Therefore the army of Trajan will travel to Spain accompanying a citizen to settle next to the spice resource overthere. If the Carthageans are to settle there before, they will be ruthlessly evicted.
A galley was sailed up the coast towards Pissae to allow for a taskforce of Legion III's to enter in the closest harbour in order to annexate Corse & Sardine. Unfortunately this galley was sunk by a Carthagenian galley.
Our effort to secure an iron source just north of the Alps was interrupted by the Celts who settled just in front of us. However another great spot was close and Prosperous Meadows was founded there.
A citizen accompanied by a garisson was sent out to the east to secure the source of silk.
On Sicilly Caesar Augustus and his army assembled some more troops and set sail for Carthago. They were dropped off in the same year on Carthegean soil.

The battle for Carthage took place in the year 265 BC. A day that won't be remembered in Carthago, as Carthago is no more... In our attack we beat 2 spearmen, 2 horsemen and a swordsman. Two promotions were granted to Legion III units and 1 Legion III unit was lost. In the counterattack by the Carthagenians another Legion III was lost. In honour of this battle Carthago Nomore was founded in Italy. The Carthagenians moved their capital to Mersa Madakh which is closer to Spain.

In 260 BC the war elephant that attacked us was defeated by the army and all units were transfered back to Sicilly. No minute too late as Hanibal's army had landed there (2 Numidian Mercenaries + 1 War Elephant).

Meanwhile news had come to Rome that Persia had declared war on the Macedonians. In response the Celts have allied with the Macedonians.

The last years of reign will be finished today and reported (including pic's). The emperor has some distraction at the moment.

PS @ Senators Joncnunn and Modo44, no need to stand up and ask, yes work on the Heroic Epic has commenced. The emperor had just forgotten to write down where...

An exciting and eventful reign to date, Emperor Maximus Meadae. You have taken the less trodden path of lateral thinking and action, probably to the overall benefit of Rome. You have guided us through turbulent times with grace and confidence and are clearly a born leader. I, Emperor Aquavian Lungarius, salute you as a true fellow Emperor!

I particularly like the fact that Persia declared war on Macedonia, and whatever the circumstances, the Senate must surely heap praise on the Emperor Maximus Meadae for engineering such an ingenious coup for Rome
So if you meet me have some courtesy, have some sympathy and some taste

I reserve the right to speak gibberish in public, to embarass myself as a Senator, and to generally ignore the Bananis Imperialis; assumed competent. The Decadence that was Rome scoffs, I stand in the Bacchanalian temples laughing.

              Maximus Meadae - continued events

In the year 260 BC (also wondering how we got to know it's BC?) the army of Hannibal attacked the Northern city of Sicilly. Two veteran legion III's were guarding the city and miraculously stood ground. Carthage has been crippled seriously..!

In 255 BC the Roman scientists came forward with knowledge on Philosophy and Imperialism. Two cities were founded, one of which secured the silk source Rome has had an eye on for a while.

At this point I emperor Maximus Meadae, give the powers given to me by the people through the senate back to Rome. Important decisions need to be made, which should be backed by the senate. A revolution is at hand and I do not wish to stand in the way of the grandness Rome is to be.

It's not up to me to introduce all the topics of discussion to the senate but it seems obvious as to when the revolution should start. Furthermore, allthough tech doesn't seem to be all that important, the senate might want have a voice in this matter. For now Engineering has been selected, but can still be changed this turn. Corse and Sardine are not easily accessable, moving the 3 galleys towards the north takes some time. We might to settle the war with Carthage for a moment and use the troops available to cut back the Celts. A spearman has just been built in Noviodunum and a Legion III is on its way.

              For Rome...

I propose disolving our Obligrachy in favor of Imperlism after all workers given orders this turn to get a full worker action turn out of them.

Agreed with the emperor, Tech choice really doesn't matter until the revolution ends. Enginnering does seem to be the best that's left [bridge building.] The other techs adviable are one that allows the Fire Catapult, a couple that allow the University and pop 13+ cities [not needed at all at this point], and a realtively expensive tech that allows churchs [only 2 citizens made content.]
