      • oh that was all very sad for most of you lot

well the Nubian party goers only really played to a few private parties

sorry, no pictures available of these parties at this time

              • Greetings barkeep. Remember me. I have been away for ages - first at the acadamy - and then exploring the med. I regret to say that I have ignored my senatorial duties, which is a poor showing for an emperor in waiting?

Any advice from a wise barkeep before I go to the senate and face the wrath of my collegues, to say nothing of that fellow Paddia, the Chief Administrator. Damn, he is a tough task master.

There are rumours circulating in other countries, notably Egypt, that the Emperor actually has little or no control over Rome, and that the Chief Administrator runs everything from a back room in the senate chambers.

Guess I'll soon find out. Give me something strong, will ya please. I think I'll need it.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

                • welcome back ya old salt

/me pours a large mug of Old Number 7, Jack Daniels

                  here ya go

/me passes over a tray of fresh lamb rolls covered in thick gravey

would ya like some peppers with those rolls then

I think you have little to be of concerned with up in the Senate

Stand tall, remember you be Rome, as much as the rest of them

/me nods to another customer wandering past

and as you be the Emperor in waiting, well know your strength, and let them know you there

They be a rowdy mob in that hall I must say, and even rowdier when they grace my humble tavern

/me lifts his tankard of Ale in cheers to the Senate, throughout the Tavern several people stand and sing cheers back. One Centurion further along the bar starts sing =ing a warm marching sone, that several join in with.

Well you should have little to fear of the ways of old Paddia. His days in the legions may be in the histories, yet he will still stand strong for our Rome, of that I can tell you.

/me refills the Old Number 7

As to the Emperor having no power, well I do not believe that for one bit

The Emperor of Rome is He whom Rules

and if the outer regions no this not, well then let loose the Legions... let these dogs bow before the Men of the Rubicon

/me reaches for the Whiskey bottle and pours a good slug into his ale jug

We are the Civilization that the Gods would have us be

and we be strong in our ways

and one of our great ways is the office of Emperor

so when you take office, remember the two great words from the Bosom of Rome...

                  Strength and Honour

Should you require further discourse on this, I would advise you to seek out Senator Chrisius Maximus, for he has a special passion on these words

now would you like another whiskey?

I'll just finish up my 4th glass of this wonderful elixir - and maybe I'll stroll on over the the senate chambers....

Optimus Betamus finishes his glass, nods to Paddy the barkeep, and with a fist-to-chest salute declares "Strength and Honour". He parts for the senate.

                            • Um - barkeep. Not sure if this is cricket - but can you give a thirsty Emepror a drink? Keep it quiet - between you and me. OK? But this Emperor thing is really draining! And to top it all off, the redecorating crew is arriving shortly....

I hope no one notices me with my hood pulled up over my head...

btw - nice waves there! But a key advisor (Jimmy Buffet) once warned me to be careful of ...'the sharks that live on the land.'
