UnO if pay is an issue, come to the Odin Rune Tavern, Paddy will set you up with some free beers.
After all this is a feudal game, we have a "barter economy"

Sign me up for landlord. I don't know if I'll be able to cope with a system as demanding as the $ minigame, but I shall try to expand my land and wield as much political power as possible

I think you should be our despot. At least until we have enough tiles for the auction (apparently, 32 tiles, i.e 3 to 4 towns), you'll rule as in a normal DG.
I don't think it is required to be a landlord to have one of the "meta" positions of the game, such as presidency, and any position the prez wants to create to submanage his duties (such as science, taxation, and maybe unit moves). Actually, I think a person without any land would be a more agreeable choice as an arbiter between struggles of competing landlords.

Actually there are any land ownership requirements for any position in the game except land owner. But the President doesn't have any authority over science or unit moves. He plays the game and can levy taxes I suppose.
(On the Feudal Team we formed an Alchemists Guild that controlled all Science issues.)

That sounds fair but I would be willing to manage government held land tiles and their valuations until someone else feels comfortable with it.
Ghengis, what positions are there actually in this game. So far I've seen Serf, landlord and fiefdom owning lord. Are there also knight and perhaps mercenaries?

There isn't a "Serf" position, that's just an ongoing joke.
The plan is to have a Despot (President) and Chief Minion (Vice President) play the game (same as normal) until we have enough tiles equal to 110% of the team members (ie, if we have 20 signed up we would need 22 tiles) so that everyone has a choice on which tile they start out with. I would assume the rest of us could input suggestions and advice as we play up to that point.
Spiffor suggested we each choose a tile, possibly based on sign up order.
The old way was to auction off the tiles. You would then owe the government the amount you bid and would have to pay it back from your earnings.
When we get to where we have enough tiles we would need an Auctioneer or someone to track who claims which tile (I would be willing to do it since I did several in the $MiniGame).
After the first tile assignment we will need Market Makers to run the production/trading/selling thread where we generate our income (I would be willing to do this to since I am familiar with what it entails).
At this point each city would have a Mayor elected by the owners of the tiles in its radius. Each tile gets one vote for a city's Mayor election. The Mayor would be in charge of that city's production. I would suspect the Mayor would get a cut of whatever units the city produces and auctions off.
General rules were that you couldn't bid/purchase more tiles until you had paid the government in full for the one you had borrowed money for.
I don't want to suggest too many rules because a lot of this is stuff that is kind of fun to work out as we go along. Like the Alchemists Guild we created in the Feudal Team to control science issues. Sort of like in real life civilization had to make up ways to deal with newly evolving issues.
Anyway at the point we get tiles everyone is free (and somewhat expected) to do whatever is in their best interest, trying to make deals to get their tiles improved, voting for others they think will best improve their position, etc.
I accept the nomination. I hope to get up to scratch sometime this week with all the Feudal rules stuff, thus allowing anyone else to put their hands up too. If I become Despot I will CERTAINLY need a Vizier - I will have temporary periods (hopefully no more than a day or two at a time) of little or no Net access - for example the 7th and 8th of June when I am in Sydney yet again.
If you wish, I can be the Vizier until we have enough territory for the feudalism to begin
