  • [NEXT GAME DG IV] Difficulty level

We continue the process of setting up the next Demogame. Currently, we have decided to play an Epic Game instead of a Conquest. We are now to decide on what difficulty level we wish to play.

The question is: "What difficulty level do you want to play?"

The answers are many, and the poll is multi choice:
    1. Chieftain
    2. Warlord
    3. Regent
    4. Monarch
    5. Emperor
    6. Demigod
    7. Deity
    8. Sid

There will be many other polls that will follow. Here is the list:
    1. Epic Game or Conquest Results: Epic Game
    2. Map properties / choice of Conquest
    3. Difficulty level
    4. Choice of the played Civ
    5. Use of mods or not
    6. (if needed) What mod to use
The poll will be opened until Tuesday, 12 May, 18:00 GMT
    23
    Chieftain
    4.35%
    1
    Warlord

I personally am strongly in favor of Emperor.

There are not many players who'll find time to devote a really serious attention to detail in this DG (maybe we could hope for 30 members, based on the previous polls about the next DG), and the lack of micromanagement is one of the reasons we fare badly in the DG3.

Besides, if we do go for a feudal DG, we will want to have some room for messiness, and we won't want to trust our future to a few power players, who'll be the only ones really able to lead us to victory in a too high difficulty level.

Yet, Emperor offers quite some challenge, and the game shouldn't be an absolute breeze. We'll have enemies, we'll have scientific rivals, we'll have trouble building wonders etc.

That's why I think Emperor will be the funniest challenge for us

And in a Feudal system it will be far more difficult to raise troops and defense forces.

      I'm leaning towards Monarch.

          Bah, you probably don't remember.

At least we know you didn't mispell it.

I think we need the results of the map properties poll and the difficulty poll before making a decision.

I mean, if we end up playing a pangaea on demigod, it is unlikely we choose to play the Brits

Yeah to Emperor. I am routinely doing well on my own in Monarch, and I don't plan as well as I could do, although I fairly consistently MM a lot. Between us we should be able to push the envelope a bit there.

Back to the ROOTS of addiction. My first missed poll!

I think your missing the point, we do well in a normal DemoGame because we all work together, in the Feudal DemoGame members will be actively trying to undermine other members.

Oh, really? Doesn't sound too great for a DG to me...

I don't think I'll be part of the feudal but will try to play as usual. Is this possible?

Not everyone will always agree on which country to attack, and even if they do they may not have any desire to risk their troops in attacking them so it may prove more difficult to raise military forces.

Look at the US in RL, a decent percentage of Americans do NOT support the actions against Iraq. So in order to do military actons you need to get several members to support it AND invest their troops in it.

So as you say, instead of a majority vote ruling (democracy), everything is fully compartmentalised and there is essentially no higher loyalty than the lord of a fief?
