Hello, long time since i had something to say in this demo game.
Ive been very busy sorry.
Its good to see that there is still enough spirit left here to face down what seems like impossible odds to you Paddy
Ive voted for Cavalry here I dont really have any reawson other than its a fast mover unit that will make home defense easier.A proud member of the "Apolyton Story Writers Guild".There are many great stories at the Civ 3 stories forum, do yourself a favour and visit the forum. Lose yourself in one of many epic tales and be inspired to write yourself, as I was.

We can get Navigation from Russia (if not already taken).
I'm not sure what should we research next. I would have railroads and use our berserks to defend ourself but I guess There is no coal on our isalnd(s). Tha't why I think we will need cavalries.Last edited by ormuzd; May 2, 2004, 02:07.

BE WARNED OF THE RISKS OF RESEARCHING MILITARY TRADITION!
I wish I could have looked at the save before all these votes were casted. We have no saltpeter, and no one of our trade partners has it either.
We are plagued with trade embargoes against us. We can only trade resources with Britain and Egypt, and none of them has saltpeter.
Besides, our trade embargo against Russia ends in 10 turns, but they don't have saltpeter either (for the matter, they don't even have iron, we could be able to sell it to them in 10 turns).
Only Babylon was able to trade saltpeter with us, and they embargoed us only a few turns ago. I don't expect Persia to trade its abundant saltpeter with us any day (they'll just sign embargoes over and over)
In short, we are pretty much stuck without any saltpeter for us. And without the ability to build cavalries either.
Our aim should be to get nationalism as quickly as possible, to build "strong" defensive units that don't require any ressource.
As such, we need only to discover era-needed techs. We'll need 40 turns to research either Physics or Banking. The difference is that banking is actually useful.
THIS IS WHY I SUGGEST WE DON'T RESEARCH MT ALTOGETHER, AND GO FOR BANKING INSTEAD. I HOPE THE PEOPLE WILL CHNAGE THEIR VOTES AFTER HEARING MY ARGUMENT.
