  • How should we choose our opponents?

Out of the ideas from the thread on the issue of what we set our opponents to be, I bring you this poll.

This is really two polls in one.

    A. Number of civs total?
    1. 16 (standard for Huge map)
    2. 24 (includes ALL the civs)
    3. Other/ write-in

The option with the most votes (or write-in votes) for this poll wins.

    B. Specific civs to include
    1. Include these specific civs... (please list any you want)
    2. All random

If 2. wins, then all civs will be randomly chosen. If 1. wins, then any civ with 5+ write-in votes will be chosen, with all others made of random choices.

I hope this satisfies most people.
    67
    A. 1. 16 Civs total (15 opponents - Huge map default)
    28.36%
    19
    A. 2. 24 Civs total (23 opponents - every other civ)
    32.84%
    22
    A. 3. Other/write-in a number
    1.49%
    1
    B. 1. Specify opponent civs (please list below...)
    10.45%
    7
    B. 2. All random opponents
    26.87%
    18

    The poll is expired.

I feel for the FAM with 23 civs to deal with, so I'll go for 16. This is plenty enough for a huge map.

It certainly would be nice to face off against ourselves in the running (Egypt), so I vote for one chosen civ - Egypt, and the rest to be random.

Voted 24, but any of these options are fine by me. I would like to see egypt in there, along with england so we have to race for the lighthouse....

In the real world, there are more than 180 countries. So, what is 24 ? Just think about how many phone calls George W Bush has to call for the Iraq war !

Anyway, even though there are 24, by the time we find everybody, the number would have dropped to 10-15.

10-12 Civ's. At Diety the more Civ's the harder it is to stay up with the tech. 24 Civ's? Tech's will be comming at two per turn during certain portions of the game!

I guess if you all really want a challenge....

I think it's more likely that we will fail. I will still participate and make suggestion in order to prevent that, I'm just not a hopeful if we do a full 24.

BTW, Togas is already making the map; shouldn't he know the number of Civ's beforehand?
