My sugestion: Two games, one of them with the "Citystates concept" (this one needs a lot of discussion and planning), and the other a vanilla game (PTW patched 1.21 or Civ3 patched 1.29, the whole idea is in benefit of new members).
Can we afford this (I mean, do we have enough people?)? I think so, but it's me.

Members are not the problem. W're quite short on members now, especially if we want to play the Citystates Game.
However don't forget that: there are many apolytoners member of the PTW DG who are not a member of the SPDG, these members are enthusiastic members and will join these new games because 1)they are not that far developed as the SPDG was when the PTW DG started. 2)because the second game is a new concept: the modes make the game different, the Citystates Game is entirely different from the common way of playing Civ3.
Second, a groop of new apolytoners will join when an article of the games will be put on the Civ3 main page.

DyP - we're already playing 2 MP games with otherwise conventional rules, this would give people more choice. DGs are a great place to learn more about civ.Comment

There's lots on DyP vs Vanilla, but not so much on the AU mod, which has a lot of support also.
Remember the AU mod is the mod the expert players use, and it has been successful enough to spawn at least half a dozen AU games in the strategy forum. I have personally never played one of these, but they look to be excellent ways of learning and refining strategy. As this is what the Demo game is all about for me, this is my vote - I want to learn and test what I have learned, and if the AU mod works for the experts, it's good enough for me.Comment

I'm new to the SPDG so I think it is most fitting that I do my first post here.
I say let's try the AU mod. It'll be a challange, and we have to prove just how good we are as a team.
