      Burries the dead horse...

      Digs it back up...

      Beats it again...

Already voted no a while ago... there is nil to gain from a conflict with tiny little Persia... what are you people afraid of... that Persia is going to dig into their pockets and pull out 20 heavy armor divisions? This is a waste of time and resources...

Our military has better things to be preparing for...

        leave them be..

I agree with Arnelos; there is little point in attacking a nation of two cities that poses no threat to us.

Eegads...:::supplies bandaids and splints for the poor horsey:::

No point? Little to gain? I realize I'm a little new around here, but didn't these same Persians commit an act which meets the following description?

          1. Willful betrayal of fidelity, confidence, or trust; perfidy.
          2. The act or an instance of such betrayal.

That is Webster's definition of treachery. What is the penalty for an act of treachery against Apolytonia?

          A. A shake of the head and a woeful "tsk, tsk, tsk" directed at the perpetrators of the act

          or

          B. The certainly that your ass will be a target of the Apoytonian boot of justice as long your sorry carcasses pollute the landscape of this planet?

Let us take this opportunity to make Hamadan an event that will stick in the world's collective mind until the end of time; there is no land so rich and no prize so valuable to be worth incurring Apolyton's wrath. To do so is simply to sign your own death warrant.

Hamadan is also strategically located; once we pump its culture, it can be used to prevent Greek and Aztec armies to freely move between them in the event of an alliance against us.

Less importantly, in the event of a war with either of these two powers, were we to ask for cities in exchange for peace, it makes the western Aztec or Northeastern Greek cities possible prizes, as they can be immediately linked to our great nation.

If Franklin Delano Roosevelt were Persian, he would say "We have nothing to fear but Fear itself. Fear itself, however, appears to be approaching from the southeast."

Folks, if you wanted to fight Persia, (and I did), 1360 was the time. At this point, it is very unlikely that we can reach Hamadan before the brits or the greeks. And that's the only city they have in 1380.

In 1360 Samaria plus Hamadan effectively completed the noose around lower Aztecia. Now Samaria has been razed and Hamadan would be an isolated city.

In 1360 it made sense. But not in 1380

We already gave the Persians many boots back in the days of Chivalry; that's why they're so tiny now.

Not that I wouldn't mind finishing the job, and I voted yes last time - but, as Roadcage says, it's a little late.

Persia? What are you talking about? There's no more Persia (well, Hamadan stills there, but not for long. The Greeks are close...).

so, go for the Greeks, or maybe the Brits.

                  But Persia, please...

We need to build up our Military, so that we can take them with no problem.

I maintain that there is little point; if anything, the world would see our glorious nation as little more than a bully. Are we a nation willing to be seen as a bully, a nation willing to use its military might to smash a small, defenseless, about to be destroyed nation into the ground merely because we can? I think that we are better than that. Let the others destroy the Persians, let them be seen as bullies and aggressors. Apolyton should turn its focus to the future, towards building up our infrastructure and modernizing our military (for defensive purposes only, of course).

I get some feeling I voted wrongly, I voted yes, but when people begin talking about 'poor little Persia' I get feelings of mercy for them.

Back to business: right, you're a bit right it's unfair, like big US against Luxembourg, Liechtenstein etc. Let's take someone that is MORE of our size. The war won't be fair, but at least fairer then against Persia.

Yes, I suppose it might be a little bullying/vulturistic. But I think it's too late to keep that out of our rep... *cough cough* America *cough*

As for Greece... what has Alex done to us? Tokugawa, an the other hand, stabbed us in the back and changed sides in the middle of a war. Shaka also attacked dishonorably. Those should be our targets.

Tokugawa is also only nation which could even CONCEIVABLY cause a dint in our plan to win the space race (but a pretty distant one at that...).

Japan, more than any other nation, has shown its contempt for Apolytonia and is now the principle threat to Apolytonian hegemony and Apolytonian space-faring initiatives in the modern age.

All other nations are merely distractions.

Shaka only attacked in self defense, as I explained in a Gazette somewhere. It was in direct response to a certain Foreing Affairs Ministers campaign where a certain candidate suggested we should improve relations with Zululand by landing and taking his gems. He subsequently lost that election, though, and peacefull relations were able to resume with Shaka.
