  • DISCUSSION:Pre-Victory:Radical Notion

    WE CAN HAVE IT ALL!!

If we want it, Victory on our own terms. If we choose to, we can win in multiple ways for all desired victory conditions.
All it would take is ...

First deciding that it is our collective right to choose when and how we win.

That it is OK, that it is not cheating to win, party, go back a turn and PREVENT the win, any way possible. Strive for the next possible win, preventing the previous win and any losses

Rinse and repeat.(to some predetermined limit)

I usually play my own games to two or three wins. I quit when I repeat a win. I even role the dice and hold elections from time to time. It becomes more a balancing act and espionage is REAL important. It can be fun, but I know it is not for everyone. I offer this as an idea.

    Vote and discuss.

This is not what I thought it was going to be from the thread title, but so what. I suspect that we will have trouble keeping interest for long enough for multiple victory

Either Diplo or Space are my prefs (and domination would be okay too, as long as we only need one or two more wars), but I think we should choose one victory. Some people are already losing interest, and I have to admit I'm beginning to join them; though that may just be the lack of recent turnplay. It's not like we've passed all hurdles; we could still be hurt by nukes.

But I think multiple victories just wouldn't hold my attention. It'd be fine with me if some people wanted to experiance victories different from the first one, but I wouldn't join in.

Interesting idea MSS! I don't know if I support or not yet, I'll think on it. But it's certainly a plausible idea....

But I sense, somewhat, that there is a growing feeling among 'poly to get this one over with and start the new one. At least that's what I heard somewhere or other.
          Maybe the above post...

One win and by diplomacy. Not that much fun, but its the quickest. We all know we are going to win so lets get it over with.

The only problem with winning is... where will I see this fine group of people again? That means I would have to *gulp* venture out into the other Apolyton forums! I've never been out there before! Oh dear!

Alternatively, after we win, we can just keep on playing the game forever...

I think we'd be starting a new game up, correct?

I'm not sure, I think after we officially win this, more people might consider a multi-site demo game which will just totally rock I think.

Of course I could be wrong, I'm sure there are a few of us brave souls willing to bump it up to diety level.

I am for a SS victory. I have never liked diplomatic victory, and i feel conquest/domination will just take too long.

We should start a new game.

We need to keep at least one open Civ3 demo game running. the other games you have to be accepted and everything, limiting the number of people.

I normally play for Space Ship or Domination. But I have done that many times each and am out for something different.

And consistent with my typical play style, I have never had the courage to call for the UN vote. Is this the time? I sure hope so, cause that's how I voted here.
