  • Hijacked Settler

I missed this MAJOR MAJOR little oops when reviewing the 1305 save. Could someone offer ANY reason for placing the precious settler which we cash rushed last turn to disband Abandonment off of our rail grid with the Frankfurt bombers?

Settlers should be positioned to maximize their chances of an oportunistic land grab. At this stage of the game, that means safely placed on our massive rail grid for immediate deployment wherever the opportunity exists. One such opportunity now exists on the southern front in that the original Vladivostok tile is in neutral territory and city placement there would bring Syracuse within immediate reach.

But as a result of umbelievably poor settler positioning last turn this 'Once in a Gametime' opportunity must be delayed.

Roadcage : I wasn't there when it was decided, but I assume we wanted a settler to replace Frankfurt as soon as we raze it. This settler is the only one we have, so we cannot hope to settle 2 places in the near future.
Also, I see we need to get past some Roman or Russian territory to get to former Vladivostok, and we don't have any RoP with Russia.

Not a valid reason. A settler to replace Frankfurt does not need to be committed to that task prior to capture. Once capture is achieved our mil reserve of workers will rail to Frankfurt thus allowing our precious settler to remain comfortably lodged in a fortified city on our rail grid.

Actually, take it up with the whole Senate & Cabinet, as the overriding consensus is that we do NOT want any RoP's at this time.

As it is, do we want that city, which will be highly corrupt for a very long time? It only matters that we keep that A.I. off balance AND unable to properly challange us. With the one Russian City being Razed, it will be a LONG time before any new City becomes of value to any of the Southern Civs.
