Are there any other new people around here I could chat to, so I can see how they're finding things and the such, also why isn't there a religous party in the game?Don't let them make you think your free, all men are born free yet everywhere they are in chains. Break these chains that bind me I'll be free again

Hi, I'm new also. I've been checking out the DG for a while now, but hadn't joined because I didn't have Civ3 yet. Well a few weeks ago I bought the Game of the Year edition, and decided to join once I knew what was going on with this new version of Civilization(new to me anyway, even though its been out for over a year!). I'm still learning the ropes of the DG but I think I've got a handle on it.
I have one question for you guys, the GOTY edition is version 1.29. I think i read in an old thread that the DG was using version 1.21. Will i be able to use the saves with my version?

You can make a dual installation of the game, one with the 1.29 and other with the 1.21 patch.
But I can't find the thread about the dual installation... and I can't remember how I did this. Hey guys, could someone give us a help?

Dunno about a dual installation, but if you download both the 1.29 patch and the 1.21 patch you can run the 1.29 patch to uninstall it, then run the 1.21 patch to install it. When you want to switch back to 1.29, you do the opposite: run the 1.21 patch to uninstall, then the 1.29 patch to install."Close your eyes, for your eyes will only tell the truth,

Without any registry collissions?
I've never tried this myself but I'd expect there'd be a registry collission if you install the game twice (doesn't matter if you install it on different HDs)."Close your eyes, for your eyes will only tell the truth,

I'll admit that my experience is probably atypical, though
Arnelos' advice is sound on how to get involved in this game. I also enjoyed sitting in on the turn chat last evening to watch the country's leadership in action.
Also - join a party. Choose Labor. Workers rule!!
With the PTWDemo game it was a bit more of "jumping in at the deep end". Thankfully my teammates were more than patient with me, and taught me how to get around the forums and chats. Thank-you Vox. Still learning. But hey, that's OK too.
Fabulous site, with great members. What more could you ask for?!!!
(woof woof)Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.
