  • Senate Bill: Foreign Ministry's Authority to Estabilsh Embargoes

    This is a bill to give the FAM authority to establish embargoes, particularly in retailiation for hostile embargoes upon us. It requires a simple majority to pass.

    Poll officiallly closes three days from now. December 8.

    Hmm...

    I'd definitely trust Arnelos with Embargo power. I dunno about future FAMs. I suppose it can always be retracted, though, so I'll probably vote yes.

    BTW, do I read correctly that this poll never expires?

          This is an unbelievably bad bill. Please think before you vote to give away the constitutionally mandated checks and balances role of the senate.

          The question is not whether we trust this FM or that FM, but do we want to allow any FM the ability to initiate such a stupid policy as a trade embargo.

          And if you will think back over RL history, it is clear that embargos usually hurt the makers of the deal FAR more than the intended victims.

              If the game had been halted when the treachous Aztecs got the Chinese to declare an embargo on us, broadening the FAMs powers wouldn't be needed.

              (The best turn to lauch a counter embargo is the very same turn one is declared against you.)
