  • MINISTERS - Next Turnchat Location?

Apparently, GhengisFarb was unable to make it into the Apolyton.net IRC chatroom. Markos was present for the chat and was informed of the problem, so perhaps he can do something about that for GhengisFarb and others.

Failing that, can anyone help GhengisFarb (or others) with their problem finding the Apolyton.net IRC server.

However, I'm open to holding the next chat on Undernet if GhengisFarb really can't make it onto the Apolyton.net server (somehow I think the problem can be solved, though). I believe it very important that we hold the chat in a place that all of the ministers (and all of the citizens, even) can reach.

Ministers, what are your thoughts on this?

we could try some off turnchat time for some of us to test out the channel, that way, someone who is having problems, they can have someone to help them with it. Epistax did get on after a while after Mark_G had helped him.

as did Davout, once I helped him find the java chat.

I think most of the problems with the poly chat are solvable, but we can't have Ministers unable to access. Right now, I have to use a different program to get in (mIRC, not Trillian), though I can access it. Overall, I really do like the poly chat, but if we have to go to undernet until we can get everyone able to access it, so be it. (Mark, please don't ban me for saying that ).

So what's the problem exactly? I had issues, but if you use mIRC, you can access the Poly chat: see my thread on instructions here.

MarkG (naturally) wants us to use the Poly chat, since it is there, and there were no problems with it before. Furthermore I like it because it allows nicknames of greater than the idiotic 9 characters or so that the old chat does. And "MrWhereIt" doesn't thrill me as a name.

I have had no problems with either Undernet or Apolyton. Maybe I am lucky. I will continue to act as our unofficial Gadfly no matter what venue you choose.

I've followed all the instructions to the letter, even MWIA's and it denies me within a few seconds of successfully connecting.

It also frequently "throttles" me because it says I am too fast?

The settler version wouldn't let me connect, apparently it was software compatibility problem. Anyway, if we can get this resolved it would be great, then we wouldn't have to worry about notyoueither being propositioned by the "lolitas" anymore.

                  Define "irc client"
I use the mIRC program if that tells you anything.

Yep, I checked to enable Java everything in my browser and rebooted my computer.
