Just a little update on Tojo. Last heard from in 430 anno banana,

I guess my origininal pessimestic thesis for Tojo looks generous in hind sight. Who would have thought that Tojo would be truly alone?

    roleplay

Tojo performed his ritualistic coastal tour by 9 am today. The old warlord had been making that trip every regularly for hundreds of turns now. When Tojo first made the journey, he was a young, vigorous ruler. Filled with the glory that would come from exploration and conquest. But now, he was a tired old man, helped along on his journey by the special contrivances provided by his nurses.

Tojo cast his gaze out to sea and shouted with all his might. " Oh great ocean, why have you cursed me so? It is not fair for a warrior people such as we Japanese to be utterly alone. May I have just one enemy to spit on before this tired old man joins his ancestors?"

The nurses had seen this outburst many times before, and were therefore prepared. They simply picked up their fallen master, placing him back on the salon chair, and began the return journey to the palace.

Tojo's chief assistant, picked up the crumpled map that had fallen from his leader's hand. A work of art. The map showed Japan surrounded by that ever ending ocean. That dardardly ocean that had been the downfall of his leader. He grimiced when he saw the caption by the ocean to the east, where so many brave young men had borded triremes for his emperor but never returned. Yes, it must be true. "Here there be dragons"

In the faint mist, Tojo glimpsed what he thought to be a strange looking ship, bearing a crimson banner and topped by an eagle?

He had the entire city rush to the shore and try to get the ships attention. It worked the strangers looked at his people, waved, and sailed out of sight.
