you are right, Army's can Blitz, as long as every unit in the Army also has that ability. Horsemen can't Blitz, a horseman Army can't either.

The abilities of the units in the army don't matter. There's a post around somewhere about this, but I can't find it; but here's a different post, Theseus quoting the recent PTW chat, which would imply that the abilities of the units in the army don't matter.

It's the flags on the army unit that matter (if you look in the editor, you'll see there's an actual army unit, like there is for a warrior). In unmodded Civ3, armies only have the blitz flag, IIRC.

And, as I said, I once had a cavalry army, and it could blitz - despite the fact that Cavalry do not have the blitz ability! I see no reason it would be different for horsemen.

I set up a scenario to test a horseman army. Just load the the horsemen into the army and attack Berlin. Assuming your army doesn't get killed, you should be able to blitz and attack a second time; I was able to.

It used to be that way, but one of the patches, I forget which I think changed that. Either 1.21 or 1.29. Guess it matters since the demo game is 1.21 :P I remember when I first started playing civ3 though how much I thought armies sucked cause Id put 3 calvary in one and get 1 attack, but with 3 calvary get 3 attacks. Then at some point it changed. Least Im almost sure it did at some point

Hmmm... damn patches! When I first started to play, I would have Knight Army's but couldn't attack more then once with them so I quit making Armies unless I wanted a "supertrooper", which was seldom or never.

OK, Armies can blitz. Then the best option to taking Boston will be the block manuever mentioned in an above post (the one with the two red x's and one blue x). Lets block the aztecs path with our WC.

Can horsemen go through unroaded mountians?

Kloreep - which version of the game did you use though? The readme states that the Blitz ability was added to armies with the 1.17f patch, but there is no elucidation on whether all units in the army need the ability or anyo of them or none of them.

I voted for the GA since I want one.

Somehow I think the oppoents of us triguring a GA via offensive action wouldn't like us triguring a GA via defense action either.

After much consideration I will go with Et's plan for delay and hope boston doesn't fall. That means we will declare war this turn. 2 turns from now 2 knights will start the turn 1 s of boston and 2knights will start the turn 2s of boston. The knights 2 south will launch the intial attacks, if these don't take boston then the knights 1 south will go attack boston, otherwise they will attack New York. Ideally we will get 2 attacks on boston and 2 on New York this turn.

1.29, so there is a possibility it's different from the demogame. However, I'm pretty sure my experience with the Cavalry army was under 1.21, as I haven't been able to play much with 1.29.

It should be possible to test it with 1.21 as well, but it wouldn't be as easy as 1.29; you'd have to give a player an army and some horsemen in the player data window, then go out hunting until you found an AI stack.
