  • Keeping the Balance

With 12 Civs on our part of the world, keeping the balance of power will be essential to emerge as the #1 civ.

How to do this? One possible way is to start a war against a civ that is bigger/stronger than the others, to keep it down a bit. But maybe there are other ways....

Has anyone got experience in what I call the "feeding technology" strategy? This is giving away (or selling cheap) our technology to civs that seem to be behind in the race, esp. when they are near a stronger civ. For example, we could give/sell tech to the Iroquois, in the hope that they would prove more of a struggle to the Greek and Roman civs.

Before I have thought further on the possible effects of this, I'm not going to say that this is what we should do. But I'd like to hear some ideas from you folks.

The 'feeding technology' strategy is a good one, and in use now by us.

If you look in the general policies part of the Foreign Ministry Office Thread, you'll find that there are several civs marked as 'charity' civs, who we'll still try to turn a profit off of but will generally give tech away to cheeply to try to stabilize their region.

The Iroquois, if I recall correctly, are one of these civs. (Just checked, yes, they are the only one at the moment.)

    Hope this helps!
