  • Several important $mini-game questions and ideas

    1. Can you buy on your first trading session? You don't have any money yet. Can you purchase things expecting to have the money at the end of the session? If so, what if you don't get the money?

    2. I think our trading system is flawed. If we're going to post our assets, let's just do it seperate from trades. Also, if you are buying things, shouldn't you, instead of saying that you're buying such and such at this price, just accept a sell offer? I think that everything should be sell offers and purchases. If you had 2 food you wanted to sell, you would post a thread saying that you offered to sell 2 shields at, say $45 each. If this was the first sell offer in the thread, you put a 1 in the title bar, and if it's the second, a 2, etc. THIS IS REQUIRED OR THE SELL OFFER IS INVALID. Then, if someone wants to buy those two food, they post "I accept offer #1" and put ~1 in the title bar. THIS IS REQUIRED OR THE SELL OFFER IS INVALID. If someone has accepted your sell offer, you cannot edit it. You cannot edit an acceptance post, either. The trade is now set in stone. Also, the restrictions for selling shields above market value are eliminated - just don't expect anyone to buy your stuff.

    3. We should make buildings cheaper. WAY cheaper.

    1) You should post your questions in the Discussion thread instead of starting a new thread with every comment.

2)So far no one has spent money until the turn after they earned it. I feel you could purchase things expecting to have money but if the money wasn't there you simply wouldn't buy them. (you can't go negative except for the initial government loan)

Everyone agrees we need to adjust the trading system.

I like the sell offer idea, but there's no need to put a number. Simply QUOTE the post and declare you are fulfilliing that sell offer.

Disagree on the selling at any price thing as someone with a lot of commerce could sell it at $150 each 10 minutes to close and force everyone to lose their sales. I would like manipulation available but not so ridiculous that it makes the game unplayable.

Disagree on the buildings, everyone should be able to make money WITHOUT buildings. Buildings should add an additional tier to the game for those who want to invest more time and strategy into it.

Actually, the number is necessary so that people can quickly and easily find out if an offer has already been taken.

It has absolutely no benefit over simply quoting the offer, and requires the players to keep track of one more peace of information.

Say you see a sell offer for 2 shields. You then have to search through possibly several pages for that offer quoted to make sure that no one has accepted it. With the title bar, you just have to look for that number.

Or you could avoid all that work and just look for your name...............

              True.

In that case, you must click "reply with quote" for the offer you're accepting, or your post is invalid.

Heck, if you have a low attention span you could even jazz it up a bit:

                ****The Umbola Contract****
I offer to buy 1 shield per turn @ $60 per turn for the next 6 turns.
