I don't see why this is polled. Looks good to me.

As the Minister of Science I find "YES, I support the plan as written" the best. We should sell techs. If not, they'll probably aquire them pretty soon anyway.

A quick way to get to the Middle Ages, and a faster route to knights? By all means, execute this plan.

you gotta realise tho, that even tho we are getting ourselves closer to Pikemen and Knights, France will be getting there soon enough as the AI trades around.

            War wont be easier.

France is medieval already. I doubt anybody will discover feudalism within the next 10 turns : the AI needed 26 turns to discover currency.

am i to understand civs like Greece (scientific ones) got Monotheism instead of Fuedalism?

we wouldnt know, but is it the way its coded?

cuz.. if Greece got Fuedalism, theres a VERY good chance France has it.

AFAIK, scientific civs always free-discover monotheism and nationalism. Now, maybe I'm wrong, I didn't play scientific for a long time.

well, my experiance is mixed. in most of my games, Greece reaches mid-evil era quickest, and usually get Monotheism

but i think i remember Germany getting their first once and getting fuedalism.

But in any case, i think we should heavily ponder the possibility of Pikemen in Paris.

I free-discovered feudalism with France twice.

Now wait a second, I am thoroughly confused. There's a poll that has started a discussion on clarifying what is meant by not playing ahead. In it, it is proposed that we should allow "playing ahead", at least as far as checking out what other civs will pay for techs etc. But this is what I thought the bulk of the FAM's job was, and my thought seems to be confirmed here. So, is this considered bad form or WHAT??!? The first post was from skywalker, and the idea that this is NOT allowed is followed up by UnOrthO and NYE, which gives me much pause for thought on what actually happens.

                        Look at this:

                        This suggests to me that this sort of thing HASN'T been allowed until now, not even to the FAM. It is possible skywalker was confused, but then;

Any form of playing ahead is cheating IMO. What if they discovered a trade that is widely approved would not work? Saving us loads of cash in the process. That = unfair advanage = cheating.

The benefit of tech whoring is what can be gained. Massive sometimes.

The risk is that you will not get what you want and your opponents will be stronger.

It is a game. It must have risk, otherwise why don't we use reload cheating to avoid unfavourable results when we attack?
Now one person I could understand being confused, but all three? And no-one correcting them? What is going on here? Is the FAM allowed to check to see what trades Civs are willing to make or not? And if not, WTF did those specific prices at the top of this thread come from?

How did someone manage to confuse only me this much?!?!

I'm pretty sure Spiffor listed those prices in another thread and said they were estimates, thus implying that he didn't know for sure.

Yea, Spiffor's guessing, but everyone likes his guesses, so... . We may end up spending more money then this to get what we want... on the other hand, we may be able to spend less, and gain more, so . There's a degree of risk, but that's what the game's about.
