  • Ministry of the Economy

I know it's a bit early, but I could not be here once the election is over.

With these words, I officially create the Ministry of the Economy, which will replace the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Finance. Our mission will be to provide officials and normal citizens with documented info, and to give advice on all things economics.

All the economic info of Apolytonia can be found on the Ministry of the Economy website

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to voice them here, I shall listen carefully to you. If you have suggestions to make the site less ugly, they are also welcome.

after looking over your tax and luxury page, i'd like to discuss this one:

    Tax-Lux
    Gold
    Apolyton
    Banana HQ
    Termina
    Tassagrad
    80% - 20%
    +6
    1h 2c
    1h 1c
    1h 2c
    1c

i believe this would be a good option for luxuries (20%), it would let our cities work at a size 4.

if all the shields arent wasted (and i dont think they will for our 3 core cities) it would be a godsend.

note: we'd have to mine another tile for Termia, it only has 3 mined tiles. just food is worthless)

      UberKrux :
While entertainment might be a godsend during the war, I think it is too early for now.
      - Apolyton grows in 8 turns if we work on the whales rather than a forest.
      - Termina will grow in 4 turns, and it could really be interesting for this city. However, raising entertainment so that the 4th citizen is working will cost us 1 gpt and bring us one food if we work on a sea tile : the 2gpt the sea tile brings won't make up for the 3gpt lost overall. We'll have a new mine near Termina in 7 turns at least (with the worker S of Tassagrad).
      - Tassagrad will be threatened by unhappiness in 15 turns
      - Banana HQ will be threatened by unhappiness in 10 turns.

Overall, raising entertainment now will be useful only for Termina, and it will end up costing us 1 gpt. My advice (I can't decide on this matter) is to let taxes at 100% until a new tile has been mined on Termina. If we are to do this, I also suggest we work on the whales tile in Apolyton, so that it grows ca. at the same time.

Perhaps you'd like to consider population control by building an extra worker or two.

Uber : so, do you agree on putting luxuries at 20 % in 7 turns, when there's a new mine near Termina ?

We will be getting two squares of dyes if we capture the american city with them, I suggest preparations for a road be made. This would allow for another size four cities. Besides that, our next best bet will be France's grapes (coincidence?), good luck roading to that.

another valid point. the dyes will help as well...

I didn't do the map precisely, but should we connect America, we'll do this in at least 13 turns. That's actually short enough for s to consider too. But I think we should mine / clear jungle in priority, and connect to (former) America later. In the meantime, raising luxuries could be good idea. Of course, in the long term, I favor luxuries over entertainment.

As science advisor, i must ask: is some funding coming to my department any time soon??

I can't tell, as my job is to give advice, not to decide. However, a semi-efficient research would be extremely expensive (it will bring us between -2 and -5 gpt), so I'd go for no funding at all until we get much more commerce in our cities.

I just think getting at least 40 turn science at the cost of just 1 gpt would be worth it. I think you should at least make a poll about having 10% science.

is it really worth it? im actually curious, not beign sarcastic or anything.

if we get the tech while we're researching it (trade for it, hut, whatever), we lose all the turns right?

Yes we do uber, but I don't know if the reduced cost due to research toward a tech, makes up for the loss of gold.
