    The Report

We are now the technological equals of all civs. And Uber was bullheaded, but it didnt hurt us

Thanks to the genious trade plan from Spiffor, we now only lack Writing to be world leaders in technological sophistication

    The trades were:

    - We buy Iron Working to the French, for 3gpt and 58 gold.
    - We sell Iron Working to the Greeks for Mysticism, and as much gold as we can get.
    - We sell Iron Working OR Mysticism to the Iroquois, for he Wheel, and probably money.
    - We sell our least valuable tech to the Brits for Alphabet, as they don't have any money to buy valuable tech.

Germany, America and France are the only civs with true tech leads on us right now, while they all have Writing, and we don't.

We may obtain Writing from the French at 6 GPT and 43 lump. But that seems to be too much of a price to pay as far as I am conscerned. And France WOULD be our most favorable trade partners at the moment.

    Currently, we have 66 gold
    France has 1 gold
    USA has 12 gold
    England has NO gold
    Iroquois has NO gold
    Germany have 17 gold
    Persia has 46 gold
    Greece has 58 gold

    America are Annoyed with us
    France are Polite with us
    Iroquois are Cautious with us
    England are Annoyed at us
    Germany are annoyed with us
    Persia are annoyed at us
    Greece are Cautious with us

UberKrux led a warrior onto Persian land. This was against the plees of the acting VP, Timeline (who was running the turnchat), and without my knowledge (i was entertaining a friend who was visting from the army, so sue me if i rather catch up with my best friend then miss a turnchat)
FORTUNATLY, it has not dammaged our reputation too greatly. It is much requested these little exploratory forces not cross into enemy territory without explicit conversation among the SMC and the FAM.. and especially not when the acting turn-player advises against it greatly. Uber, this kind of bold action won't guarantee your vote from me .

Secretary Rodger's has information on the following nations.

Moving through territory never damages your rep if you leave right away. Does it?

Geez, this opens a can of worms. Who has the authority to say no to the SMC for the first move in? What about in the case of the withdraw at once, OR ELSE message?

Is everyone a captive of the FAM? Is everyone a captive of the SMC?

It seems any transgression into foreign territory invites a surprise attack at a future date if that aggrieved party thinks it is stronger.

Bah. I cannot accept that. I do it all the time.

My warriors go wandering as far as the land goes. On the way back, they are constantly crossing lines, being asked to leave, then being forced to leave (hopefully to the side of the strip closer to home). I've never seen a hit due to it. BTW, I almost never get sneak attacked.

On that topic. Some of the more experimental players send scouts and explorers to sit in AI land. The AI asks for them to leave (they almost never follow up with demands though). No diplomatic penalties have ever been noticed, even with scouts and explorers camped on resourses to deny their use for the AI.

Uber didnt cross Persian teritory because he had to, he did it cuz it was convenient. It was not on the way back, it was on the way out. And why should we at all cross into any territory if we dont HAVE to?

Because it has no effect unless we refuse to withdraw when required to?

It's seems like a good way of scouting interior AI territory -- particularly in the early game, when the territory hugs individual cities relatively closely so that a quick hike up an interior mountain gives us a good glimpse. Before mapmaking, of course, we won't be able to trade for this information.

it was either move onto the hill or waste two turns (and far less visibility) going around it. I consider the action worth it, especially because the negative effects are nil.
