  • July 8 Turnchat

    Greetings,

I am proud that in Trips absence we were able to carry on the torch today and play for 4 turns.

At the beggining of 2070 we traded techs, and were able to get Iron Working, Mysticism, The Wheel, and Alphabet for the cost of 46 gold and 3 gpt.

Our troops, by the order of Uber, crossed over into Persian controlled territory. Xerxes approched us and demanded we remove them, and we agreed. The troops were removed next turn.

We continued exploring in all directions and discovered a blue border, possibly Germany. We also found 2 deposits of Iron, one to the far east and another to the west, near France. We have discovered how to ride the beasts known as horses, and have realized we have large amounts of them in the tile north of our city.

    Turn Log:

    Turn 42, 2070

    Renamed "Red City" to "Termina"
Worker by Banana HQ moves south east to began a road that will connect Termina With our great capital
Begans a massive tech trading campaign: Buys Iron Working from France, and trades it (and other techs) for mysticism, Wheel, Alphabet, at the price of 46 gold and 3 gpt. (nice work Spiffor )
    Termina switches production to Barracks

    Turn 43, 2030

    Persian warrior moves north
Amercian warrior moves east, and discovers blue border, could it be Deutschland?
    French warrior moves north east
    Termina Worker starts building road

    Turn 44, 1990

    French warrior moves east
    American warrior moves north
Perian warrior moves north into Persian territory, make visual contact with the first Persian city ever discovered by our civ, Pasargadae!

Xerxes comes to us and demands we remove our Imperial Guards from his territory. After apologizing we he leaves our presence

    Turn 45, 1950

New spearman is built in Apolyton, and is ordered to march to Termina
Worker begans mining east of Termina
    French warrior moves east
    German warrior moves north
    Persian warrior moves north
Worker west of Banana HQ begans digging a road
Sea tile in Banana HQ changed to work mine
New warrior in Banana HQ fortifies

    Turn 46, 1910

German warrior moves north, spots river and some flood plains
Persian warrior moves north east and spots some water. A lake? Maybe a part of the ocean?
French warrior moves south east, and finds of course, more jungle
After a long journey, the spearman sent Apolyton arrives in Termina, the unit fortifies it's position

War Chariots, there's a difference. But yes, in our jungle, they are annying to use, we're going to need roads.

i've looked over the map and i've also pondered using war chariots.

i feel it would take too long, so i am going to push foward with case pink/teal. our first assault shall consist of archers.

As i started making one of my "colored" maps for easier viewing, i again made my "jungle road" on the map (the red tiles).

it's 6 tiles to France but they seem boxed in between jungle and mountains, so chariots would be useless after a while. also note that Rheims is completely surrounded by jungle, inaccessible by chariot.

it's 8 tiles to get into the "American Plains" for lack of a name, and if america is to be attacked first, we should have washington and our chariots could reign free over the lands.

The "German Mountain Chain", again for lack of a name, may prevent chariots from heading east, and we do not know what lies in the west. more scouting is required.

eventually, we will place cities and roads along the area anyway, and this would also allow us to colonize the "American Plains" a little bit faster.

As the SMC, i'm just stating possibilities for our armies. I believe that chariots are not an effective weapon on this map, laiden with mountains and jungles. I'm providing the quickest and easiest way to get chariots out, for a golden age and a quick, cheap, efficient attacker.

One day not too far away we may find that large grasslands lie to the west, and chariots may be a great unit. Again, right now chariots aren't useful, but times may change
i'll have more maps later, i have to go away for a few days (college orientation). i have mentioned it a few times, so it shouldnt be a suprise. i'll be back late thursday or early friday.

Alsofor the record we really don't want chariots anyway for a long long long time(until we are doing are own research), since a golden age right now would be next to useless.

i'm usually in favor of an early golden age... where do you prefer it?

                  Hey Uber,

What about a road linking Apolyton with Blue City and Banana HQ? 2 tiles of jungle.

Then 2 or 3 more tiles of jungle brings us to New York. By the time we launch Eagle, the Americans will almost certainly have linked New York with Washington.

4 o4 5 tiles of jungle links our growing empire for troop movements and brings dyes to the capitol.

BTW. I seem to recall a couple of people saying we were sitting on horses. I wonder who they were...

Is it just me, or do we have a 100 by 100 tile island with 10 civs packed onto it? Am I the only one who's noticed this?

i told you statistically we should have had 1 or 2 horses nearby... the nearest resource was dyes. we were due

Horses! Blessed banana, horses! Strange, rare, wonderful creatures! How graceful, how powerful! Perhaps, fellow citizens, it might be possible for people to clamber up onto these animals. Think what fearsome warriors these people would be! Our enemies would quake, and flee -- but not fast enough!
Horses, ours, here below the jungle! And the Americans have none .....

btw, isn't it cool to load up the saved game, scroll around the map -- and see our dilgent workers, ceaselessly mining, digging roads? ....
kinda keeps me warm at night.
