    Jonny (DIA)

    Will 5001 policies.

As Minister of Imperial expansion I will work tirelessly to further our position in this ancient world. I will work closely with the City Planner and the SMC (and any other minister which has an interest) in matters relating to the setting up of each and every city. I support the plans detailed in Case Pink/Blue and in subsequent plans relating to the war against America.

Unfortunately this means that production of settlers may have to be put on hold when we are producing military units. However, these military units will gain us more cities and gain us access to more productive lands where, as Minister of Imperial expansion, I could work overtime to give the empire productive and fertile cities which it desperately needs.

I will endeavour to provide a great service to you, the citizens of our great democracy (or despotism, depends on how you look at it) by placing our cities in the best possible location that will give us resources, luxuries and a productive, stable, base from which we can carry out our national aims. In the short term I will advise the foundation of “Blue City” from the settler that is currently being built in Banana HQ.

The minister of Imperial expansion is a very important post and there can only be on real choice: Will 5001 and the UFC

Any quires over my policies can be posted here and I will get back to you promptly.

            I have some questions :
what do you think about radius overlap ?
Would you consider building a city next to the dyes, even if it's all jungle ?
Once Case Pink is over, when will you intend to settle, with the informations we currently have ?

Radius overlap- I do believe that this should be avoided if at all possible. However if we decide that culture is not a priority we may be left with big gaps in our borders, so later cities may have to be built closer together, sacrificing performace later in the game. So, I believe that radius overlap is an evil we have to avoid.

Dyes- The purpose of colonies are for collecting resourses in bad terrian. I believe that this should be disscussed with the Public works advisor and the Minister of economy, the area would need a lot of work and currently the best option would not be a city.

Post case pink- This all depends on where we go next, we may even decide to go to war with France! Otherwise I intend that we settle south of Washington on the grassland to help with our border coverage, to the West of Boston where there are fertile flood plains and productive mountains (just out of our discovery at present) and to to the East where there are mountains, hills, floodplains and possibly grassland.

The seas are a good posibility, a good way to bypass the jungle, as long as that doesn't put too much strian on our military or science. But it could all too eaisily be a fruitless exersise, we have to see what the land looks like around America a bit more, the seas could provide a welcome piece of good land though!

My opponent never ran unopposed, since I was the first who applied for this office.

In this crucial phase of the game, our empire needs productive cities. Productive to build settlers, units and may be the first cultural improvements. That means, right now food and shields matter more, than an "optimal" city placement with no overlap. Once we made our way out of our small peninsula, we'll succeed to build city powerhouses soon enough. Ah yes, as one of the authors of Case Pink, I support it of course.

Here is my plan in particular:

                        - Follow Case Pink and build the "Blue city"

                        - As soon as our military actions succeed, construct a new coreland in the fertile American and/or French lands. Because this land is good, we can plan future powerhouses there, with an optimal mix of mountains, hills and grassland and only a small or no overlap. Plan cities such, that they may support 20 citizens. More isn't necessary, since specialists in core cities are useless.

                        - In the further perspective, consider to build the Forbidden Palace in one of these centers (may be in Washington?), to make the cities more productive.

                        - Later on, when we know more of the map and generated a leader, we should consider to jump our palace. Our capital is misplaced on the tip of a peninsula. It should be surrounded by cities, to take full advantage of the lower corruption.
