How to become technologically advanced for 3 gpt and 58 gold

First, here is a raw collection of all possible trades with the foreigners we know. I'll go to the point just after (you may not read the whole list)

France :
Iron Working for 3 gpt and 58 gold
Alphabet 78 gold
the wheel for 75 gold
mysticism for 76 gold

America :
IronW for 3 gpt and 66 gold
Alphabet for 84 gold
the wheel for 81 gold
mysticism for 82 gold

Greece :
Alphabet for 84 gold
the wheel for 81 gold
mysticism for 1 gpt and 64 gold

Persia :
Iron Working for 3 gpt and 71 gold
Alphabet for 1 gpt and 69 gold
the wheel for 84 gold

Iroquois :
Alphabet for 81 gold
the wheel for 78 gold

England :
Alphabet for 1 gpt and 66 gold


What's interesting is :
Iron Working for 3 gpt and 58 gold in France
mysticism for 1 gpt and 64 gold in Greece (they don't have Iron Working)
The Wheel for 78 gold by the Iroquois (they don't have Iron Working, nor Mysticism)
Alphabet for 1 gpt and 66 gold in England (they don't have either Iron, Mysticism and Wheel)

See ? Iron Working is the most valuable tech out there, and we can buy it. It's perfectly possible for us to tech-whore it, in order to get al other discovered techs, for free : the wheel, Mysticim and Alphabet are all cheaper than Iron Working, and tech devalutaion won't be that important, as some Civs we'll trade with son't know each other.
We could even have some money back in the process.

Here is the plan I strongly support :
- Let's buy Iron Working to the French.
- Let's buy Mysticism to the Greeks with IW
- Let's buy the wheel to the Iroquois with Mysticism or IW (whatever we decide)
- Let's buy Alphabet from the Brits with the less valuable tech. They couldn't give us money to fill the gap between Alphabet's and IW's value anyways.

With such a plan, we'll be on par with best Civs in the world, for a mere 3 gpt and 58 gold !

Good plan, may i suggest we poll this, just to be sure. It would be nice if we could pull this off, especially since it will only benifit 1 neighbor and that one only with money.

More seriously, our 4 tech late is the cumulated late from the beginning of the game (we traded only 2 techs until now IIRC).
We'll have to wait something like 10 turns to havve a new significative lag in the teh race.

Um I am not certain about this but I do wish to point out but I think the number is infact 85 gold for france's iron working trade.
i check this from game year 2070bc. If I am in fact wrong then I will admit defeat at the hand of my leaders and bear the punishment of being rediculedin the streets and have 300 year old bananas thrown at me. Howevr I dot expec this for bad spellig

You're not ridiculous at all, as I forgot to mention all these prices are negociated. All prices you see in the list are the best possible deals we could work out with our allies. the French will sell Iron Working for 3gpt + 58 gold. They won't sell it for 3gpt + 57 gold.

As I pledged to the voters before getting elected minister of trade, I will not allow any mere coin to be wasted.

Actually, haggling this kind of "best deals" takes much time (I needed about an hour to make the complete list). That's why I think we should do the trade-whoring via the forum, if this is accepted : I don't want to make everybody wait during next turnchat when I'll haggle with the Greeks "Mysticism + money for Iron Working".

I love your plan ideas tho. As long as we can postpone any and all trade with USA, I think its not a bad idea.
