Ahhh, but the Schlieffen Plan had one fatal flaw. The Germans didn't account for their vastly extending right flank (which turned out to be the First Army), and so they had to wheel it back in towards the rest of the group. This stopped their slicing motion east of Paris, which doomed them to a war of attrition.
Yeah and if they hadn't wheeled it back in they would have encircled Paris and the Allied army, winning the war. There was nothing to counter the German extended flank. The allies would haev lost.

Either that or the BEF and a few French armies may have crushed their right flank, ending the war.

I'm not saying what they did was the correct course of action, I'm merely stating why they took the course of action they did. No need to prove to me where the allied armies were, I have a nice book here that has purdy maps too.

oh yeah, I understand the reasoning of the german generals decision. I just think they made the wrong choice.

Anyways, if we liken Plan Pink to the Schlieffen plan than Trevman's suggestion of "caution" is silly and dangerous. Cheers to Jingoism and the Coalition.

If, however, you look at some of Hitler's own plans, you'll find that lack of caution can be at least as dangerous. The man may have been a tactical genius, but he had no real grasp of strategy. He threw away whole armies because his plans were premature and piecemeal, and he refused to listen to his "overcautious" critics.

We're discussing a single, focused strike with clear objectives. I would not support carrying on with the archers willy-nilly to attack other civs.

The archers will get us 3 things. Space, time, and a power base. All 3 will come from 1 civ. After that they are done. Although their presence will keep other civs off our backs until better units become available.

                      The people want war!

The French probably have the good land, if we don't attack while they're still weak how will we ever hope to succeed!?

Been away a while. Looks like we have a fight on our hands. Now I'm somewhat of a "peacenik" but in this case, I put my support behind the plan. Sooner or later, it will come to war, and we may have no choice. We should be prepared. Even if something happens (e.g. large barb uprising? do we have that disabled?) so that it becomes unwise to fight France, those units will still be very important.

We can still use them for exploration before finally clustering them together for the attack. While archer #5,6 are being built, #1 and #2 can be finding new terrain. We can trust our SMC to time it just right so that they're all stationed for the attack without having to waste any turns just waiting around.

As much as I love culture and temples, I think those things should wait until we have dominated the French and our immediate effective zone (territory required for integrity, resources, without excessive corruption). There's absolutely no way we can beat the French (or anyone else we encounter) by trying to improve our jungle-ridden infrastructure. Desperate times call for extreme measures. Heck, I might even put my objection to pop-rushing on hold if it will help us win this (future) war.

Worst case scenario: none of our units ever wins a single battle (or even a round of combat), the jungle continues north to the edge of the map, we have no resources, and the Germans and Zulu are near the French.
