  • Public Opinion Poll (Unofficial)

Hi, as a leader of the UFC I would just like to take a friendly poll to assess the approval rating of the decisions of one of our fine ministers.

NO, this is not a smear campaign ... after the unfortunate discovery of some beautiful fertile land merely a turn after the building of a city in the middle of the jungle, we are simply endeavoring to discern the people's feelings on what they think about the IE Minister's decision not to wait, but build a city right then and there in the disease-ridden jungle.

So please vote honostly, but only once. Thank you.

    yeah.. i agree with it.

You must not forget exactly how many people thought it would be a long time before we get out of the jungle.

And like you yourself noted (to my researching ease), he founded it before we found the goody hut, and before we found grassland. Bar playing-ahead, he had no way of knowing there was any end to the jungle in sight.

He made the right decision (considering the choices when he built the city)

I support it. In the long run, it won't matter that much, and he's not at fault. NO ONE said "oh let's wait, we may find some good terrain over there, so just let him sit where he is and do nothing".

This decision was horrible. My answer is no.

Although, I consider this poll to be a smear campaign. as well.

I agree. This is a case of 20-20 hindsight. He made the best decision he could with the knowledge he had. Lay off the guy.

I say no, not to criticise, but because I would have waited a couple of more turns myself in the hope....

This situation happened to me before, however not as ....jungly.

                  I don't blame him.
I'm going to rub some stakes on my face and pour beer on my chest while I listen Guns'nRoses welcome to the jungle and watch porno. Lesbian porno.

just plop it down near a river

that was because people wanted to make it 2 workers. the choices were to plant the city down or to make it workers. i chose the former.

                      and right before that statement:

no, a settler given to you early on is a godsend. it can double you're production (if it wasnt stuck in a crappy jungle).

You said plop it near a river, the only river that we could see was surrouned by jungle. So you wanted it ploped in a jungle.

I have talked to you before on this in chats, and you said you supported my decision. But I guess this is a case politics getting the best of you, so I will not hold it against you

Doing what I did here was really choosing the lesser of two evils.

An early settler like that loses its advantage every turn it wanders, and these guys are not supposed to be explorer units. You gotta drop it as soon as you can. Once I saw that river, alongside a coast, with a mountain nereby that may be our only hope at finding Iron.....I gambled it would be our best bet for awhile. Besides, even looking back, I am not sure 9 turns of walking east to form a city in hostile land would have been a good idea.

I did what I thought was best, and I know most of you understand that. I wouldn't criticize anyone if they were caught in that dilemma.

The Settler had been wandering way long enough.

The IE made a decision based on known facts. It was not unreasonable to believe the jungle was bigger.

Why does it matter whether or not we agree/disagree with his decision? We can't change it.

Why was this poll started? What was the intended outcome/result for the poll? By this, I mean whichever vote wins, what was to be done with the results?

I originally joined the game to have fun. This is turning into a bunch of funless polls, among other funless things.

I had hoped it would be a good Civ game, because it can be. But, will it be?

I am not placing blame, but can we get along? Only if you want it. Do you want to? I hope so. Otherwise, you will lose a lot of people's interests.

Who is this you I refer to? Anybody that is making the game less than fun.
