I voted NO, for the exact same reasons as before : our chances to have horses in our measly 6 tiles of grassland are near nil, given there are 25600 tiles on this map.
The only potentially useful military tech we should research is warrior code. However, attacking with archers will be unefficient.

BUT, researching alphabet (as Tass plans) will be the only way to galleys which, eventually, will be our friends. Galleys will probably be our saviours if we're actually on a jungle island.
The techs Tass plans to research are not "long term cultural ones" as UberKrux mentions, but are needed to progress in short term. I know Tass plans to research literacy, but he'll adapt his plan, when we know more about our surroundings.

Spiffor, admit it. You disagree with me on principle.

        Spiffor is correct.

Anyway, I vote no. Do I really need to explain myself?

Wrong. A stack of 5 vet archers has a very high chance to take a city, defended with 2 regular spearmen (typical for the AI early on). I've done this many times. And crippling an AI, when it has merely 4-5 cities, before it succeeds to play out it's advantage in production, makes a big difference especially at emperor. Read: early oscillating wars, Vel's strategy basics. Waiting for horsemen can be waiting too long on higher difficulty levels, especially when the terrain is poor.

so im making it simplier, for good old tass.

Should we research an offensive war tech or two BEFORE going for long term cultural techs, or no?

The "NO" faction only had a plurality. Combined, the three "Yes" options beat out "No" by six votes.

Granted, a lot of this seems to be statistical error (only 32 voters). Is the poll closed yet?

I'm normally someone who wants to go culture all the way. But like I said before, the situation demands The Wheel. Everyone knows our start is terrible. Should we throw away the one possible advantage of our position and wait many turns until we see the horses?

TRue, however the poll did not state that the yes votes would be aggregated when it was first opened.

Oh, and if Trip's Official Polling Standards pass, I would think this poll would be considered a 'repoll' and become void.

It's already been passed. I'm going to have it added to the Constitution today. If someone is up to invalidating this poll, then I'm certainly willing to accept a vote.

this is not a repoll, it is a clarifying poll. I never voted in the first one because I was not sure when the advances were going to be researched.

One night in a chat room, I had awaken from a deep sleep. Uber pointed out to me that the people want military techs more than they wanted peace. Well, I began joking around and telling him that the majority was for peace (because ten beats seven)

Hence, he created this poll in order to tell me that the people are for warmongering techs.
