  • Should we have subforums?

Do we need to have subforums in our main forum to find the information easier?
Proposal till now would be for example:

    Code:
    [size=1]
    [I]Main forum:[/I]
All official Stuff. Department-Threads, History, ...

    [I]Polls subforum:[/I]
    All polls go here

    [I]Citizen subforum:[/I]
Free discussion threads for citizens and parties, for example. All citizen discussion go here.
    [/size]
This is only an example, details can be worked out seperate from this poll.

I put up this public-opinion poll to decide wheter i continue discussion of this matter or not.

    Its on for 5 days.
    35
    Yes
    54.29%
    19
    No
    34.29%
    12
    Abstain
    11.43%
    4

    The poll is expired.

NO! A total waste of time that will clutter stuff up more! Now that we're into the game the administrative stuff (rules and such) will die out and there won't be nearly as many thread!

you forget that the civ3 game is much more complex than the civ2-one. many different aspects need to be discussed. cultural assault-programs, military action plans, worker duties.
to this, there comes the polls and the citizen stuff-threads, which will burry necessary information under useless stuff.

i personally am not here every minute or hour or so. i sometimes only go here every 2 days.
so i dont have 3-4 unread threads, but 20-30 unread threads.
filtering information is a pain for me at the moment.

even with 20-30, i dont see how multiple forums would help...it would be more cumbersome for me, i'd have to open each subforum anto see all of the threads and it would take more time!

thats why i opened a poll instead of the continuation of the discussion. we will see how many are pro and how many are con, and depending on this we can revamp the discussion or leave it out.

After some hesitation, I eventually voted NO.
If we have subforums, it is likely people go check only the forum of their interest, or do refresh this one forum more often. This will result in a lessened interaction between the government and the people, which is bad.

No. The game is still being set up. The vast flood of polls will end eventually, and we'll be stuck with a forum divided beyond all recognition (and as Markos said, that will drop attendance). I don' t think this poll matters at all, unless 80 people vote. Markos said no.

I don't see why the polls would end. They are the only effective way of determining the populace's intent. WE've already decided most of the game rules and there's still tons of polls going up all the time. I personally will likely launch at least a poll or two between every turnchat.

I voted abstain. I think it might be necessary later, but now we have to see where it goes.

It would make it much easier to find the threads that is interesting for each of us, but on the other hand, as some have pointed out, it would problaby hinder us more than we'll gain.

I'm not sure if our democracy applies to such matters of natural philosophy.

I have heard of other realms that worship Markos and DaniusQ as the creators. I have not heard of any of them having sub-forums. The Gods are not bound by our petty, mortal concerns. They do listen to our pleas from time to time though, so it is not hopeless.

Mark will only do this if the traffic justifies it and it's probably has to be prolong more than a two weeks.
