Now, to protect the people from this turning into a despotism. We need to limit the number of terms in a row a member can hold a position.

How about as long as people want but not twice in a row so things get changed about.

Well, I think we need to have at least two turns in a row so that the candidate has to answer from us... but really, this poll is useless until we decide how long the terms are. When the length is decided, I'll vote for the number.

Hu???? I don't get that option. Exapmle of what that would be allowed and what that wouldn't be could be handy.

Gramphos, that would be every time you are elected, you must stand down the term afterwards, but after that you may run for election again.

he means that you can be in office as many times as you want, but NEVER twice in a row. he then states that it would help to vary the game.

i don't like it. you should be able to be re-elected in successive terms. i vote for no limits.

Well, The whole poll is about how many times in a row you can have the same post. Of course this could be different from different posts. But it would be easier with the same thing.

However, if you just are a citizen (or maybe just another post (we need a poll for that as well)) the coulter will reset.

3 terms. That will allow for some consistency in our government and also let fresh blood in evert once in a while.

                      3 terms in a row.
But someone who was in office for all the three terms will have to take at least 2 terms long vacation.

Put a limit on the terms guys! It won't be nice to see when some people start insulting other people's work to get them out of the cabinet!
Put a limit, and then all you need to do is a little more waiting! This way insults will be spared.

As it stands now, most people are for a limit. but the length of it is not fully decided... Even toh most votes are fore a 3 terms limit, there are also many wanting it to be unlimited.

Once this poll closes we might have to do some wheightening to get a good result.

Two terms, with a one term vacation before they can run for election again.

Actually, it doesn't matter, because if the people are unhappy, then the revolution will begin and heads will roll.

i voted "other option", and here is why

ideally, i would say 2-3 terms.. but more towards 2
however, in times of war or crisis... this kind of rule might be better ignored, if the current government setup would be better left in power slightly longer to get things done without confusion and change..

Roosevelt stayed, what, 4 terms? That worked out well. I think a similar system would be nice for us. Put in a limit for peace time, but no limit for war-time.
