50 turns can take a looong time in the late game. In order that our Council members don't get trapped into their responsibilities for longer than they can afford, I voted for real time - 1 month.

I say 50 turns, I see nothing wrong with that it doesn't really take that long. unless we play on a HUMONGOUS map.

Maybe the term times should be different in every era?
40 in the fairly quick and simple Ancient Era, and only 20 in the long and complicated modern one? And 30 for the ones inbetween?

The numbers can be different of course, but you get the idea.

Just to keep it simple, keep it the same as the Civ2 Demo Game, besides the fact that one month is a good time period. We should probably also try and keep our elections exactly between those of the Civ2 Demo Game, to minimize conflict and make it easier for people to participate in both.

[OT]MWIA, what did you do to your avatar ??[/OT]

Real time, 1 month...works fine in the civ2 game, and real time makes more efficient adminstrations have larger impacts on the game

[OT] The military successes of last term went to my head - fear not! Vegeta will return after I am out of the War Office. [/OT]

One month real time means you know how long the Council will last for. The time it will take for a certain number of turns can be highly variable (as I'm sure everyone here knows ), and the last thing we want is for a term with nothing happening that lasts three weeks to be followed by one that last two months(!) the Council needs to be pretty dedicated when they are in power, and not many ppl can spare two months consecutively.
