3 chats down.
I have had the most insane crap come and interrupt me this term. Seems every time I run in the government something crazy comes up, usually my job sending me to one of the wings for training/repair on some obscure piece of equipment.
This term, though, things comming up are just insane.
Thursday night some idiot "angry at the world and wanting to go to jail" lit fire in a canyon aproximately 20 miles south of me.
By Friday Morning it had grown into a full blown Forrest Fire. From work (About 5 miles East of this fire) I could see the entire thing. The whole mountain looke like it was ablaze. Quite impressive, really. The Sunrise was a bright red as it shown through all that smoke.
Then I realized something awefull. At night, winds always blow down that canyon in a northern direction...
I have asthma. I literally slept on the floor so that I could struggle to breath. Our bed was too high and the smoke was thicker up there. Saturday morning, we could barely see across the street. Saturdays are always reserved for the family, so we set out on a drive up to Salt Lake City. Well upwind of the Fire.
They have updated the planetarium there, installing a new star theater and a new IMax theater. We went and watched a documentary on Beavers in the IMax, and a cute educational tour of the solar system for the kids in the star theater.
I have one thing to say about IMax. The biggest compliment I can ever give ANYTHING.
NEITHER son, ages 4 and 1, moved the entire time. My 1 yr old danced to the music, looked around when he heard the things 'behind' him, and simply stared the full time. To a one yr old, an hour is an eternity, so this was really amazing.
So, sunday as I struggled to breath in the smokey neighborhood, we plugged away a few turns. Starting as only GK and myself, eventually everyone made it as well as a few spectators.
We had some trouble getting started, but by the end, turns moved pretty decent. Still, some work needs to be done about orders and efficiency in these chats. 2 hours should have been enough for more turns...
