Carthaginians VS Persians

I've seen many threads where the persians rate highly as favourite civs, and they're my staple civ too, but with the new PTW expansion comes a very similar civ, with a IMHO much better civ specific unit.
i haven't got the expsnsion yet but what are the general thoughts on the subject of ascendancy between thes two civs.
