  • upcoming civ3 addon

Will the fact that the spanish and other civs will be in the upcoming expansion pack affect the civilizations that are chosen for the apolyton expansion pack? Should this change the apolyton expansion?

Is a good question but I think it will be in the Civilizations Forum.

That depends. I'd say if we manage to get the graphics ready until summer, there shouldn't be a problem leaving the extra-pack-civs as is. When the official addon is out, it should not be a problem to reduce those in the Extra-Pack down to 8 additional civs.

(Maybe the thread was moved here?)

Couldn't we just switch any civs that are in the XP to some of the other civs? That way, Spanish and any others, could be replaced by the next one down the list. Just a thought, esp. since most people wouldn't object to the availability of another civ.

Another possibility would be to leave it in, and allow the players to decide whether to use the XP Spanish or the Apolyton Spanish. Maybe even have both in a game.

Also, not everyone is going to buy the XP. There are those who felt cheated and for other reasons. For those people, they would still have access to a Spanish civ.

Damn right I was cheated. I paid fifty bucks for a beta game at least six months from being worthy of being marketed to the public. Even as is, it was and still is missing CRUCIAL aspects: scenarios; scenario-building; a real Editor; MP; the inability to use new maps without having to re-edit the mod; crashing problems; etc. Even with ALL this the game still has basic flaws.

I (we) have been beta testers for Firaxis and Soren for six months. Now Firaxis is going to stick us again with more disks containing stuff that should have been in the original disk?? No sale.

Well, I would guess PTW or General, but just saw it in Creation.

So your not gonna buy the XP even though it has half the stuff you want? I'll believe it when I dont see you complaining about it btw downloaded your mod, liked the way you balanced the combat, that beta testing must have been put to good use

I think maybe I'll wait several weeks at least to see what the forumers say - lest I get ripped off again like I did seven months ago.

Will XP get rid of or at least change such annoying concepts as Culture Flipping, Settler Diarrhea, and massive corruption even under Democracy? Will the AI stop doing really dumb things? Will the trade and diplomacy make sense? Will I stop having my rep destroyed for things I NEVER did? will the AI stop cheating? Those and others are important issues also.

Never believe reviews written by Industry flacks. Wait to read the forums. I shall. (And I still should get a rebate).
