Wernazuma, etc., this is what i'm thinking would be the Korean civ.

The cities are not based on historical names; i unfortunately couldn't find my korean historical atlas. that's all good, i suppose, it saves me on romanization troubles (i.e., having to distinguish between Suwon (present-day) and Suwon (possibly also romanized Seowon, no present-day Ch'ongju))

Great start! I have a bunch of ancient city names I could post for you later.

Anyway, i noticed that there were only five leaders, and while I don't know how many there hsould be, here are a few more suggestions:

Yi Song-gye --circa fourteenth century - General who wiped out the Chinese invaders "Red Turbans" 150,000 strong

Chunjong and Nammo - the two girls who were founders of the Hwoarang youth corps but ended up killing each other

Kim Yu-Shin - member of the Hwoarang who helped to unify Shilla, circa 600s AD

Ulchi Mundok - circa late sixth century, Koguryan commander who destroyed an invasion force from the Sui Dynasty that was 1,130,000 men strong

if more needed, i'd be happy to pull them up.

              Koreans shouldn't be commercial.

Until recently, commercial activity was frowned upon by most Koreans. This is because the Koreans adhered to the strictest of Confucian ethics looking down upon merchants as lower than peasants. Trading goods for money was considered dirty.

On the other hand, they have always been religious. Shamanism has played an important role as well as Buddhism and today, Christianity. A lot of the Koreans I know are church fanatics.

That is why the Koreans should be religious in a Civ III expansion pack.

yeah, the second one actually gave me a lot of pause, before i decided on commercial.

the reason i ended up how i did, with commercial, as opposed to religious or industrious, is that the way i see it, the two eras in which korea was successful (pre-industrial age and modern age), was that science was always there; and commercial, i think, proved to be a bigger influence in bringing korea from third-world to first-world in less than fifty years. religious i almost considered, but decided to go against because the religious aspect has all but vanished from the modern korea, at least, a strong, single, unifying religion/religious group.

the only one i'm perfectly certain with is scientific. as for the second, that's still up in the air, but i'm leaning commercial.

industrious wouldn't be a bad choice, either.

In my opinion, the inclusion of the Koreans in Civ III would be primarily based on pre-16th century history. They had a remarkable civilization complete with the arts, literature, and many notable inventions.

Modern Korea's rise is relatively new-- only a few years. Its significance today pales in comparison to its achievements in yesteryear. Anyhow, it's still a divided nation.

arg, this makes me so mad. on this cursed 28.8 connection (i don't know why my 56k modem isn't working) that i have at home, often i get errors from apolyton such as: "too many visitors", or "thread not specified", or "page not found"...

so my response is gone, flown into the wind.

siredgar: what my response was, originally, was something along the lines of how although i agree with your points, i still think the fact that going from abysmal economy to 13th worldwide, merits much attention.

the best we can hope to do, however, is when firaxis takes suggestions or even looks at this, that we'll have to present our cases and let them decide.

                        Q-Cubed:

By the way, I have right here in front of me, 'Major Dynasties and Rulers' from 37B.C. to 1945 (and of course the list from then). It's about 200 names. Maybe you'd like just the founding ruler of each dynasty? Well, that's easy:
                        • Koguryo --Ko Dynasty-- (?37 B.C. - 668 A.D.): Tongmyong Wang
                        • Paekche (?18 B.C. - 660 A.D.): Onjo Wang
                        • Shilla --Pak, Sok, Kim Dynasties-- (57 B.C. - 935 A.D.): Hyokkose Kosogan
                        • Koryo --Wang Dynasty-- (918 - 1392): T'aejo
                        • Choson --Yi Dynasty-- (1392 - 1910): T'aejo

Then Japanese occupation and modern presidents. There are 196 more names if you need them.

As for ancient locations, I've got some here, though it's hard for me to tell if they are city names or regions in some cases. The darn thing is spelled in English, which screws it all up! LOL.

                          Update

I've change the leaders, to make it fitting.

Now, the Ruler is Daewang Sejong (King Sejong the Great), with the leaders being the dynasty founders + Adm. Yi Sunshin and Tangun, the originator of Korea.

Hey, are gonna need more cities? i've noticed that compared to the other civs on Wernazuma's list, the Koreans have a noticeably smaller city list...can we think of any more (i'm sure there are a bunch out there).

Veracitas is right, the Korean city-list has not ExtraPack-quantity standards, it'd be nice to see more.
