At Deity, raging, when far from my cap, half the time I get a settler by tipping with a scout I end up losing the city before I can hook it back to the empire. If you wander with it, barbs can sometimes corner you. And if you build a city, you really can't go to war with anybody close for quite a while since at one shield a turn, that city will rarely be able to defend itself and will be the first target.

In MP, one/two session games, I do see mil maybe having a benefit. More promotions can really help. Nothing beats being attacked, taking no damage and being promoted. This will frustrate the attacker big time. And leaders are more likely to unbalance a one/two session game.

I see more combat in MP, (just to avoid boredom)
