Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I have only played with the Romans in the Tutorial, and the French on Chieftain. The romans are pretty good, but I'm most a builder player, not a warmonger.
So the French are somewhat more into my way of play. But I think I'll like the Greeks the most, because the Hoplites are a great defensive unit for a long time, and they have reduced corruption, and better science.
"BANANA POWAAAAH!!! (exclamation Zopperoni style)" - Mercator, in the OT 'What fruit are you?' thread
Join the Civ2 Democratic Game! We have a banana option in every poll just for you to vote for! Many thanks to Zealot for wasting his time on the jobs section at Gamasutra - MarkG in the article SMAC2 IN FULL 3D?http://apolyton.net/misc/ Always thought settlers looked like Viking helmets. Took me a while to spot they were supposed to be wagons. - The pirate about Settlers in Civ 1
It took awhile, but I think I have settled on the Indians. Individually, the commercial and religious abilities are pretty strong. The nice thing about the combination is that the Colossus gives you a Golden Age. On Monarch (the level I have been playing), this is the only early Wonder that I can count on building. With the Indian Golden Age, I can usually get the Lighthouse and sometimes complete the Great Library, too.
War elephants are nothing to sneeze at, either -- especially when the nearest source of iron is three cities deep in enemy territory.
I like to play a Civ with a long list of diverse city names like Capetown, Singapore, and even New York. Then, I'm not so upset when I lose them to another Civ.
as the origional leader of "the horde" i am disgusted that the Mongols are not a part of civ3...... especially since it would go with my razing personality.....
but i like to play japanese in civ3 .small consolation
As a Welshman I always used to play the Celts in CivII, and failing that my first choice was the Sioux. I was a little pissed off, therefore, to find them both missing from CivIII. I'm looking forward to the Apolyton extension pack!
For some reason the new Iroquois Civ didn't apeal, and I've been playing Civs at random in the new game. My new favourite, based on the ones I've played so far, is the Romans. Judging by the votes so far in the poll, many people agree with me. My worst experience was playing the English, but I might be biased...
