  • What civ is best suited for a space victory?

    Who should I try next?

The only successful games i've had were with theGreeks...(unintended...i built the UN and won, but I wanted a space victory....but I would have lost that due to my uneneding war with France.)

and the Babylonians. Culture victory...totally unexpected! I just...won.

I plan on trying each civ, but I think I'll try the indians next. It'll be a challenge, but thats what the game is about, huh? What do you guys think. What is the best civ for a space victory?

I like to edit the civs and play with custom made civs.

Hmm I think its hard to say. You can achieve a space victory by crushing everybody else, save one city, then start building the ship Or you can expand like crazy in the beginning to outproduce the AI......

IMO you just play with the civ traits that suit your style of play most.

I myself always choose commercial for the reduced corruption, and religious for rush building temples at the beginning and a few extra turns when I change governments. I like the Romans so I edit their traits. As for the unique unit I like the panzer so I gave the Romans the panzer and gave the legion to the Germans

      Probably French

I each special ability adds something, i would have to say that industrious and commercial help most because: Industrial workers get the infrastructure built quiclky that lets you have huge cities and You get a 'slight' production bonus. As for commercial, you basically get more money which allows you to rush certain buildings, like factories, to boost your production ahead of time. Plus lots of gold to reach techs faster or keep up more units in a dem. Military would also be good because of the leader production, but I doubt you will get enough leaders while building the spaceship (probably don't want to be at war) to make A HUGE DIFFERENCE (maybe one component)

I myself played the first game with regent level and won a space victory. My civ was the almghty russia. I think that being a scientific civ is best civ specialty. You get 3 free techs and science buildings cost less. So to win space victory, which almost doesn't matter what civ you are, I think scientific is best advantage. And expansionist is pretty good too cause it boosts you very far. By being expansionist you get lotta of money and techs from villages.

          Americans.
Expansionistic + Industrialistic means you can build alot of cities fast
if you rush settlers. F15 = lategame golden age.

My first reaction to this question was "any".

However, I guess scientific and/or industrious civs have a small advantage. You need to do a lot of science to get the ability to make all spaceship parts, and you need productive cities to actually manufacture them.

I agree. Persians should be best for that task.

Hmm.... If you relly havent got golden age before that you havent build any wonders...

If talking about best civ I would say religious and scientific.
Religious= Fast temples= lots of land area
                  Scientific= Fast sci.buildings+3 free techs.

You are all wrong. I think Chinese is best for it. First, they will make sure no one will come close to space race with their militaristic attribute and they will make other civs beg for forgiveness and pay tech tributes, so that sort of compensates for not being scientific (which the Chinese are supposed to be, damn Firaixis took it out and gave it to persians!). Anyway, once Chinese acquired space race techs, it can put its industrious ability to use
