Where's the history, culture and leaders? Where are all the posts screaming that Guam is not a country and that the Guavos really own Guam? I don't get it...

Guam: Now a mere Military Base for the US has a rich and glorious history. All of your inventions were really invented by Guamese Citizens, but the US propaganda machine neeglected to mention that. They stopped the further expansion of the Japanese, who we all know always had an expanionist policy always looking east. I can't even choose a leader for them because their ranks have been swelled by the mighty. Their unique unit is obviously the "Really Far Moving Boat of Power" or RFMBP. Please vote for Guam. I will post a letter in Guamese to all the Guams in Guam to come here and vote!

(OK, the last part went a little far, but overall it was pretty good piece of satire.... right?)

I'm just laughing at something funny, don't get all defensive. It's pretty clear that this thread is a satirical play on your pro-Polish threads (or any of the other "blank SHOULD be in the XP" threads) and I think it's pretty funny.

Guam: in the right place at the right time .....

Without Guam, Ferdinand Magellan could hardly have been the first human to circumnavigate the globe. Through the winter and spring of 1521, his three remaining ships had been on the high seas for 100 days without spotting a single island of significance. Greatly underestimating the breadth of the Mar Pacifico, his sailors were sick or dying and the food was gone or spoiled. Scurvy was rampant; swelling the ankles and gums and killing daily. Biscuit powder was swarming with worms. Boots and sails were chewed up and washed down with water yellow with slime. Rats were caught and sold for food. Wooden planks were cut up into sawdust and swallowed. Circumstances were dire unless they could find a port of call -- and fast.

                      Ferdinand Magellan was a Spaniard

Also, Magellan died about 2/3 way around the globe, didn't he? If so, he hardly qualifies as the first around. Sort of like Sir Hillary being the "first" up Everest...
