  • Will Custom Slots Exist for Civs?

    Everyone:

Just what the subject line asks. A bit of clarification, though: I know Civ III is shipping with 16 standard civilizations. But will the game include "empty" slots for an "x" amount of player-made civilizations?

The guess I have is no.

Dan has indicated that in scenarios you can have up to 16 civs playing at the same time. But it appears that no in game screens will be able to handle this. And it appears that choosing a civ is not an expandable list but instead 16 civs fixed in the screen.

Others have complained this means they will have to delete a civ to add one. Which of course means that all additions have a negative effect as well.

Of course I hope I am wrong.

I, too, hope you're wrong. As it stands now, I am more than a bit disappointed that civilizations such as Mongolia, Spain and a Pacific Ocean islands representative were left out of the game. I'd sacrifice a bit of art and frickin' 3D animation if it meant adding in these civilizations.

I hope they have, but from the screens we have seen I have to say that I doubt it.
I hope someone can prove me wrong.

Didnt Dan meantion before about them adding an editor to allow you to add your own custom civs?? And im guessing that they wouldnt want you to over-write their handmade civs... So my conclusion is: They will include "empty slots" for custom civilizations
