Spain is a stong candidate. It did control most of the americas and was a dominant force in Europe for centuries as a Habsburg kingdom.

What have Canada done for the world?

Question for all you Spanish lovers:
What exactly have they done during their 200 years of power (the years thereafter were only a joke) have they achieved, that the Portuguese, Dutch, Swedes, Vikings have not achieved?

What gives them more right to be in than an Arab (or muslim) civilisation

        No.

Maybe the Turks or the Parthians. There's no need to make the game more Euro-centric than it is now.

          You never know...

I chose the Incas by the way.

Sorry for excluding the Viking, Cathage, Arabs and so on, but there where only room for 10 choices

How bout none, and make it easy to create a plethora of civs.

I say let Firaxis work on polishing up the gameplay, and leave the rest to the mod community, since they will do it anyway.

What is with having all these seperate threads/polls on the same topic. If there is some thread already going on about a topic please just keep it there, "Civs"! Or at least keep it here, just post at one or the other.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

Fireaxis should add every civ that was mentioned in this thread - and some more. They could offer from time to time new civs on their website for download, inclusive new leader anims etc.
But I rather think they will sell us one or two AddOn CDs instead (hm, as long as the game is great, ok ).

Spain happened to control more territory than the Arabs...

Some of us have difficulty when we try to download stuff, so I hope the major new stuff is sold in stores.

Celts. Where were the Spanish, Dutch, Turks, Vikings, Arabs, Canadians, Americans, or Zulus in 100 BC. Non-existant. But there were Khmer, Phoenicians, Celts, Assyrians, and Persians. I suspect the number of choices is arbitrary, and would be very reluctant to pay for an upgrade if more civs were its principle feature. Agree with Pythagoras, put in an editor, and let us do our own research on cities, units, and so forth.
