    Great job Cort!!

It's awesome to see some of these older games played out.

Hey, I just had an idea...
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

Duas uncias in puncta mortalis est.

holy cra*! I just played AU101 on civ3 1.29f. I got all the GW but I haven't finished the game in a victory. That is one awesome starting position. I am hoping to make a report because my game was significantly different than the ones I've read about here. I was planning on writing it now, but all this reading gave me a headache lol...

The first instinct is to settle right away. But, I dislike settling one square away from the water. Noting the hill to my left, I decide to move the worker onto it for a better view of the surrounding terrain – if it’s bad I’ll move the settler to the coast tile due northwest.

Wow, thread from the dead! Can't wait to see your report Puma. And no one will think it's an abuse since it's all on-topic gaming stuff. I once posted 23 straight posts in a thread for an AAR I'd written in MS Word previously.

The worker shows a terrific starting area.
I decide to move the settler southwest to found the capital, Kyoto. The palace-generated culture will quickly expand the border to enable use of the other game, wheat and silk squares

Worker begins mining a wheat to get 2food-2shields. Research is set at 20% to get Warrior Code in 40 turns for archers. I’ll hopefully get pottery from a neighbour very soon. Warrior production begins (without a barracks) for scouting and military police purposes. The silk will be linked after the wheats are mined.
First warrior “Alpha” walks along the hills north for better scouting results. Upon sighting horses I finally notice/remember that Japan starts with the wheel.
The worker immediately starts roading the mined wheat instead of mining the second wheat- the road will lead to the horses someday.

An English warrior takes our hut. I contact them. I want pottery but they want the wheel – they will not take ceremonial burial and 26 gold. By now, with their free scout, I am sure they’ve contacted one or two other civs; so there’s no way in heaven I’m gonna give them the wheel - yet. Since it was the warrior I met and not the scout – they must be really close from the west; so Alpha heads east.

I must settle on the horse before the English do.
Kyoto’s border expands and covers the silk. The silk must be roaded now because Japan’s third warrior will leave Kyoto in order to scout the second city location around the horsehills to the north.

Production of a 4 turn barracks begins because a third citizen will not appear until 9 turns and the settler only takes 6 turns.

Barracks completed, a settler in 6 turns, 3rd citizen in 5 turns, 2 regular warriors in Kyoto, Alpha finds English borders

Tacitus says we’re behind the Romans, Egyptians, French, Persians, Iroquois, Greeks, and English in technology – no big news.

The English found York, my settler is completed, a warrior escorts it towards horsehills, the worker wastes some time getting back to the second wheat in order to continue roading towards horsehills

OH NO! We meet an Iroquois scout. This might spell doom for the young Japanese nation. Iroquois mounted warriors are deadly.
I ask for their pottery knowledge, they want the wheel - no …and still in a paralysing surprise I forget to counter-offer 60gold pieces for pottery (which they would have accepted).
