  • AU mod panel

The AU mod panel has been having a hard time getting the minimum required votes for proposed changes recently. Perhaps this indicates a lack of interest from the panel members, or perhaps it is because after the resignation of Stuie, we have not selected a seventh panel member to replace him.

If you are already a panel member, please use this thread to indicate whether or not you are still interested in continuing to hold your position.

If you are not a panel member, and you are interested in such a position, or if you would like to nominate someone for it, please say so here.

If you get nominated, please accept or reject the nomination here.

After any existing panel member resignations, the AU community will vote to induct new panel members to bring the total back to 7.

I'm still here, though my time to participate in discussions is somewhat more limited. I've voted on everything though, and make sure to read up before doing so

By the way, I am interested in being on the panel as well.

Also, I would like to nominate pvzh for the position vacated by Stuie. He has good knowledge of the game and some very good modding ideas that we have implemented in the Mod recently.

Just for the record, I'm still interested (as if people can't tell from how active I am ).

I've not been voting in recent proposals because I haven't been actively discussing them and so it wouldn't have been fair to do so. I've not had much time for civ recently, largely due to RL (such as getting a job! Now I just need to find one that couldn't be performed just as well by a trained newt).

I would have resigned recently had I not been fairly certain that I wouldn't be replaced, as Stuie's fate confirmed.

If the consensus is to remove deadwood, I'll go. But I remember how Dominae's involvement in AU went up just after he left. I'd say we need something more flexible; although we might find out just how many lurkers we have if the panel were abolished. We need a system that encourages people to join rather than leave. Just don't ask me what that is.

Of course, I did visit 'poly today to download AU505. I may play some of that this weekend. Not that my current civ game isn't interesting. The random map generator seems to have understood the idea behind the mod I'm using and the result is a game that was easy to start with but could well be very hard later. If I lose, it'll get posted. Anyway, I'm not giving up on civ just yet.

I'm still interested in holding my position and have tried to make informed votes on the latest mod issues. Due to RL, I won't be able to participate in AU games, though.

I'm also for pvhz as a panelist - the 'veteran units' flag for the SoZ was a quite simple, yet extremely elegant idea.

I would like to propose that we officially allow abstentions so that if Nor Me (or anyone else) doesn't feel comfortable voting on an issue he hasn't had time to consider adequtely, we can at leat know he won't vote and can proceed accordingly. Had Nor Me explicitly abstained, with a six-member panel, it would have been clear that a 3-1 vote was sufficient for a proposal to pass.

Yes, that sounds like a good idea.
Dominae initially proposed the no-abstention rule with simple Yes/No proposals in mind, in order to avoid ties.

But we can have ties anyway, when multiple proposals are involved in the same vote.

Thank you, guys for nomination. That was totally unexpected to me. I did not even check this thread untill Alexman told me to do so.

After some thinking, I have nothing against it, my nomination. If I am accepted, I promise not to put too many "insane" proposal like new HP system and such

Actually, I'd prefer you keep the "insane" ideas coming. Even if they're too extreme, creativity is always good and they may be tempered by others with more subtle ways to make the same improvement, etc.
