    Monarch, Stock rules

I went on with my Rex and on 1000 BC I have 9 towns.

In 2310BC I discovered writing and beeline to philosophy
In 1870BC I'm first to Philosophy, got Code of Laws for free and also a SGL.
I used it for Piramyds in Washington

Since I fear a Roman attack ( a Roman archer is walking near my cities...) I built a couple of Swordmen (now my military is average compared to other civs).

I'm beelining for Republic, I wonder if I should change government as soon as I get it or If I should wait until my towns reach size 7 and I have marketplaces.

      AU mod: Demigod

      Link to DAR1

America was first to Philosophy in 1475 BC, and used the free technology to get Code of Laws. Republic was next on the research list. Philosophy was traded around for Map Making, Polytheism, Literature, gold, Incense, and slaves. Unfortunately, America could not get access to Carthaginian Ivory or Greek furs, due to heavy pillaging from a long Greco-Carthaginian war. So both these empires were in their Golden Age, but, of course, they still could not keep up with America in production.

The Republic was discovered in 1200 BC, and by 1000 BC, the American Republic consisted of 10 cities (41 pop), which allowed 8 Workers, 2 Scouts, 1 Warrior, 5 Spearmen, and 2 Swordsmen to not cost anything in terms of unit support. The 8 native Workers were keeping up with tile improvements largely due to the help from 9 foreign slaves. There were also 4 Temples, 2 Granaries, 2 Harbors, and 1 Barracks in the empire.

No, the AU mod has not changed the cost of any of those techs, but it has reduced the cost of the Republic and added it to Philosophy.

Hmph. THe BB just ate my nice message and I am redoing. I hate that.

          Monarch, stock rules.

Got the settler pump going, and started REXing. Rome and Greece threaten me but I ignore them and get away with it.

I put Washington onto Colossus but lose it pretty early to the Dutch. I need to find them. I switch to Oracle and then eventually to Lighthouse. I reason, poorly, that sea communication is going to be important. I KNEW I need to get Pyramids but I outthink myself. (whack upside the head).

Moving past that. I did tech trading and stayed slightly ahead of the tech curve. I exited the period with 15 turns left on Republic. I need to do some quick work to find other things to trade since I don't want to trade Republic.

My one curragh continues west around the new continent looking for new friends. It finds a barb galley but barely survives. Later it finds 5 stacked galleys but somehow they turn away when it flees.

MY expansion is OK so far but the Romans and Greeks of course are crowding me despite my blocking efforts. I am going to stuff towns in between them and see if I cannot do some flipping later. Peace is a must of course and i need to find ways to keep my three neighbors annoying each other rather than me.

            AU Mod, Emporer

My REX plan didn't go well. Roman city of Antium founded in 17xxBC broke my dream of claiming that whole river plain, blocking my path of further expansion. Meanwhile, the presumed pump city Boston wasn't able to produce enough shields until about 1200BC, by which time the REX phrase was more or less over.

On the other hand, production (or more exactly, poprushing) of the distant city New York ran well as plan. Atlanta was settled in 1675BC, successfully stole Roman's iron. Later in 1025BC, Buffalo and Houston were founded at south of New York and Atlanta, forming the southern part of AUmerica.

Our land scouts finished their job around 1700BC, then was killed by barbarian. Naval scout didn't have that kind of luck. It was sunk by barbarian galley when doing clockwise around-continent sail, by north of dye field. (If It had one more turn of life, I would be able to spot the narrow channel between two continents.)

Beelining to Philosophy was done in 1425BC, from which I gained Code of Law. Philosophy was spreaded to other nation, to exchange knowledge of Mysticism and Horseback Riding, and later Literature, while Code of Law was kept secret.

Republic was known by AUmerican people in 1100BC. By that time Washington was busying the Colossus, and a competitor (city Carthage) at back, our people were lack of interest to try that new govern system.

The first great wonder of world, Oracle, was completed by Dutch people in 1375BC.
