With Rome's Golden Age underway, Caesar and his generals sat down and reevaluated their plans. Instead of relying on cavalry for homeland defense, Rome would push forward its research to Replaceable Parts and rely on guerillas upgraded from its legions, using the nation's planned rail network for mobility (assuming that with the zillion mountains in Romean territory, there would be coal somewhere). Later, guerillas and infantry could make short work of whatever might be left of Greece after the initial cavalry charge.

As part of the change in plans, Caesar ordered a trade to Babylon for Chivalry and ordered the process of upgrading horsemen to knights (as a first step toward cavalry upgrades) began. New production was intended at that point to focus on knights, but on further thought, Caesar decided that Medieval Infantry for upgrade to guerillas might be a better choice.

Caesar also gave the remaining medieval techs to Babylon with an eye toward catapulting the Babylonians into the industrial era. Babylon got Nationalism as its free tech and would presumably trade that to Persia for Steam Power (which Persia had gotten a bit earlier). At that point, Germany, Greece, and Carthage were the only civilizations still stuck in the medieval era.

This is the one place where C3C can really be screwed up for MP. If the resources are not distributed evenly, it could spell doom for some civs.

With a map designed by a person rather than generated at random, such a prospect seems relatively unlikely (at least for us humans). And with us not generally allowed to capture AI cities (albeit with a limited exception in Theseus's and my case), whether or not the AIs have the resources will be less of a big deal than it would under other circumstances.

Rome discovered Steam Power in AD 730, so it's time to move on to DAR 3.
