I decided to give this one a try and downloaded your new Standard files. I browsed the DARs (yeah, I know, I know ) and noticed there were Gemans and Iroquois in this game. But then I got this message while playing. Is there something wrong with the saves I downloaded? (Standard Emperor game)

When did you download them? Nathan said he fixed the problems yesterday sometime.

About half an hour before my post, so I'm a bit confused. I've played till 2150BC but I'm not sure if I should write a DAR on it.

Anyways, all is well with the Indian "empire" so I think I'll play this one out

I would recommend you stop playing until we clear this up. I got pretty far in my game, and had to stop because Persia was completely missing from the home continent!

Ah, but that's not an option I had a good first 40 turns so I'll play this one out even if it has to be outside of the AU. That will save me the time to write a DAR too

It looks like my first attempt to replace the files misfired. I tried again and downloaded the files to check, and now they're the right ones.

Hueij, you're welcome to go ahead and post DARs playing from the version you've already started. The game will be a bit different from what I'd intended in terms of what's going on on the other continent, but it won't be so different as to make comparison with other games uninteresting.

Okay then, if you insist I just got to 1000BC and going to bed now. Tomorrow I will try to write the first two DARs (God, I love weekends )

Just so people know, I am around and have been playing (although not keeping up on my DARs ).

Hugely fun, and I think I've ended up with a dramatically different end-game than most...

Stupid question. You say that AU504/604/505/whatever is intended to have a 100k cultural victory.

I can avoid a domination victory (probably), a conquest victory (certainly), a diplomatic victory (definitely), and presumably will win before space is an issue.

But what about a 20k cultural victory? Is that ok, or is that a 'loss'? Because i'm pretty sure I won't be able to avoid that ... without burning down a few dozen wonders anyway...

(by 20k i mean a 'city' cultural victory, btw.)

It's only a "loss" in the sense that you will not complete the goals of the course.

Have you tried selling all non-Wonder cultural improvements in that city?

Oh, it's not going to come up for a while. Perhaps a long while, depending on the situation with some of my friendly neighbors. Just curious. I could certainly sell non-wonder improvements, and undoubtedly will at some point - just didn't know if ANY culture victory would do or only a 100k victory.

Ummm, I'm starting my DARs, and it occurred to me:

Is this 504 or 604?? Did I miss something?

It's 504. Nathan just made a type in naming this thread - all the others are 504.

[EDIT: made a typo cos "type" should read :typo" ]
