  • AU Motto

I was thinking it would be neat if the AU had it's own motto like real universities have. We could also translate it into Latin.
    Thoughts?

'All things come to he who micromanages'

    or

    'Patience is a virtue'

(ive been struggling all day with AU503, so I might be seeing this a little one dimensionally)

Just as a first thought, how about, "Learn, build, conquer"?

          Why Latin and not Greek??!!
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

I don;t think the AU Motto should have anything to do with beer, hockey, the Windsor Ballet, or the RCMP.

                motto?

i like pirate's "veni, vidi, rexi" one

or the famous quote "divida et impera" (divide and rule) could be changes to "REXa et impera" (uh, i need help in imperative forms )

also the MM idea sounds interesting
                  "god is a micromanager"
                  "even god micromanages"
                  "only who micromanages will prevail"
"talk is silver, micromanagement is gold"

but imho the best and most catching of my ideas:
                  "beat sid"

or a variant of that: "how to beat sid"

or maybe "the path to sid"

AU's "the art of civ" (derived from sun tzu's "the art of war")

To beat, or not to beat. That is the AU.

Or better yet. To defeat, or to be defeated? That is the question.

The motto should clearly, succinctly, pithily, and with a sense of drama communicate our mission:

"Apolyton University is a school of strategy, where students sharpen their Civ3 skills and share their experiences in a series of thematic games. When playing an Apolyton University game, gaining and sharing knowledge is more important than getting a high score, a fast finish, or even winning the game. Participants are encouraged to share their strategy after the game, and even to try several attempts."
