Tell me something about your games...

    This was (is) my game:
In the beginning, 4 NorthWest cities built Mike (it was my only wonder not taken by conquest), Constantinopolis and Belgrade built barracks (it were my only barrack built up to Kashgar, all other barracks were taken with cities).
I was a little bit slow in this stage of game: Nicaea were captured in 1216. Then my main army headed directly to east, side cities in the middle east were taken later when my cities with barracks weren't obliged to strengthen my main army.
I never tried to exchange maps with Turks, maybe I should try it (was it possible? were there techs to give?). Later I exchanged maps with Mongols, then Chinese.
Three diplomats were dispatched from Russia to Shachou and bribed it in 1231. I bribed quickly also Ning-hsia, built barracks and started to build cannons and a new big army.
The army number 1 were disbanded around Samarkand and about 15 assasins with a support of Envoys are heading to SouthWest China now.
Another point of my interest is Korea: I wanted to bribe it and start a contest to Japan, but a Japan caravel is going around - it will be bribed now in place of Korea.
Now it is 1238, Chinese just bribed Alamut (sic!) and took Mettalurgy.

      Go on ST
You seem to be doing pretty well.
I hope samson will be reading you and giving good advice, but he stopped posting suddenly about a month ago, so I guess he's busy elsewhere (perhaps tearing another game into pieces? ).

        And your game, La Fayette?

Edit: I guess I have a chance to finish about 1247, but anything may happen...

Well, IIRC I finished in 1279, about 30 years later than what you seem to be expecting.
I think that the key to early victory in this scenario is to get quicly to the east, and it seems you managed that much better than I did (perhaps even better than samson ).

I am done, my first Civ2 game is finished :
1244: last 8 objective cities was captured

I don't think it should be counted as a record, since I reloaded a lot. I don't mean the combat results , but typos etc. Also I found out that the easiest way how to find remaining cities left behind in disorder or in famine status is to press Enter at the end of a turn .
Also I finished with a poor reputation.
A big advantage was that I knew from the samson's game that it WAS possible to finish the game at 1250; otherwise I would have expanded more slowly.

On other side I played Mongol scenario first time and so I didn't know the map.

Anyway I guess it would be possible to finish the scenario about 1235 without my mistakes (see my post with a list of my (known!) errors) and with the knowledge of the map.

                Monk,
thank you for hiring that band...
In fact the game wasn't finished: I suppose I would have to capture the remaining cities to get some final screen (or animation?).

                  GREAT game, ST

Beating samson at first try is really an accomplishment
