I think we should all congratulate le Marquis de Lafayette on having finally been granted honorary American citizenship. Apparently everyone thought it had been granted hundreds of years ago, but no one could find any record of it, so the U.S. Congress has just formally corrected their omission. This is not the minor recognition that one might suppose: the only other honorary American citizens to date are William Penn, Winston Churchill, Raoul Wallenberg, Nelson Mandela, and Mother Theresa. Pretty select company. Huzzah, Lafayette!

Yes, they need a break between stripping away our personal liberties and lining their own pockets.
As to this being spam,... I'd be willing to say no it's not since he's one of the few active posters in this forum.

My thoughts exactly, rah. Congratulations, La Fayette!

Lafayette? Hmmm... Isn't there one here too? Could it be him? Nah, anyway, nice to see more honourary citizens.
But, what the heck is this thread doing here?!? Didn't want to send in OT, because you thought that wouldn' have been so cool? Or is this just a yet another strategy to increase your total amount of posts?

If I say : 'thank you very much, debeest', I hope no one says 'spamming'.
BTW I must mention that cadets from West Point and members of New York Fire Brigade were on Champs Elysées, marching ahead of French troops on july 14 th (French national day).
Perhaps members of Apolyton marching together somewhere next year? (from Sid Meyers' home to Firaxis head office ?).Aux bords mystérieux du monde occidental

I am glad you posted here, debeest, because I never read OT. I guess Ming won't move you,...unless we start discussing all minor events during La Fayette's life (the real one, the only one who deserves medals; for me a smilie now and again is OK).
