AFAIK you can't bribe the capital even if it is the last one left

But you can get rid of its palace so there is no capital that is what my friend achieved!

Tonight I'll give it a try, otherwise maybe LaFayette the spylover or some other experienced player could enlighten us?

I seem to remind someone had a little problem (think was Rah) once, capturing an AI undefended city before settle his first and then he had no capital at all.
But, again, never heard of someone who destroyed the palace without taking the city...

Capital cities can never be bribed.
The Palace can never be sabotaged by diplomatic action.
Military force is the only way to capture a capital.

Not necessarily - an AI can lose its capital to barbs and then live in a capital less empire until conquered by the human player -- remember the AI always play at King and so is nowhere near as bothered by corruption etc as we are ...

but you can't destroy the Palace without capturing or destroying the city ... CC (again)

I'm not sure about that...I have played many games when an AI has moved its capital half a dozen times before 1AD. I had always assumed it wanted a central Palace city to reduce corruption...otherwise why bother?

ps - are you OK for Friday?

I think the reason why the AI moves the capital is because they don't have anything left to build. When it can't expand more, it has enough units and no more improvements left to build. The palace is the only thing left to build. So many cities start building the palace, and when they finish them, their capital is moved around with only a couple of turns in between. No tactics involved.
