  • Finally, my first diety win

    Ah, sweet victory!!!!

Landed on AC 1976. Final score 192%, my best ever.

Did it without fundie (in fact never veered from
    monarchy-republic-demo sequence).

Ended game with Spotless reputation (would have been only excellent but i captured the eiffel tower in one of several "defensive" wars)

7 civs, real world map, restless tribes, me as Russians against Zulus, Chinese, French, Greeks, Indians, Spanish (no restart)
Spanish lost early then the rest seperated into 3 major powers (me, zulus, and chinese) and the others as one or two city minor powers.
I was supreme from start and for rest of game. I built HG, colossus, copernicus, Ikes, mikes, Leos. And SOL, soley to keep it out of hands of AI. And later hoovers and shakes.

Thanks to Matthew beginners guide to diety. Thanks for all the tips hear especially about use of second settler, getting tribute from AI's, and need to build caravans constantly.

Also, to be honest, was much easier due to Russian start position on world map - on coast, at edge between vast band of grassland and vast band of forest.

    Again thanks to all

Jesus Christ some of you people are pathetic. Deity is not difficult.

So what do you want me to do? Name a child after you?

      Hey Apolyton troll, nice title

Yah, i know one should be able to win in 500 AD with one city, and never build a wonder, or pop a hut, (the 500 ad one city no wonder no hut challenge) or whatever, or play multiplayer against the hardcore civer elite, but i'll take my glory where i find it.

considering that surveys show that the majority of Apolyton posters (more hardcore than the mass of civ2 players, i daresay ) play at king or below, im pleased as punch to win at diety.

      happy trolling

The frightening thing is that Alexanders Horsy may actually have children; unlikely as that usually involves making some kind of relationship with another person but you never know. Anyway thank you Lord of the Mark for sharing your victory.

E-Bay pop-up on the "post reply" screen???

            Congrats, Lord of the Mark!

In fact, despite what any Trolls might say, your victory has inspired me to hearken to the collected wisdom I have gathered from this Great Library, and to once again rise to the challenge of the Gods...

I don't think I'm truly ready for OCC, though...

Congratulations LOTM! Now I would suggest to read the 'Paulicy' and play one of the OCC games! You will be suprised how easy it is when you have good instructions. And it helps if you load one of the comparision games with excellent city locations. There is even one with a monarcy start which is quite nice to play through

                  Congrats LOTM.
1 suggestion though: go on playing (and winning ) at deity level, and please never write 'diety' any longer ('diety' makes me think of mad cow ).

I have never won a Deity game by conquering world. Just couldn't be arsed, it's no fun that way... however, I have never won with a high score... I guess my style of playing is somewhere between Perfectionist, ICS and OCC... or something like that, it's not the most successful anyway
